Hi, I just received a brand new PS2 as a birthday gift but it will only play audio CDs. When I tried playing a DVD or VCD the message "There Is No Data" appears on the screen. The same goes with any game I tried. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it? I\'d really appreciate it if anyone out there can help me out. Thanks!

ummm... playstation 2 doesn\'t support VCD, but why it doesn\'t play games or DVD, I am not sure. Faulty ps2 maybe?
-
Did you install the DVD update that comes with the PS2 DVD remote and requires the memory card to be plugged in?
As for games...that just sucks. I don\'t know what the problem is.
Like Paul2 said, it could be a faulty PS2.

Change it with another one.The power of warranty

Are you trying to load bootlegged games?
-
hehe probably copied eh?
Is there a chance you are trying to play DVD disks with non-dvd video format files burned in it?

They are the right side down, right?

Sure it was "brand new"? Was it a modded one? Did you touch the laser lense at any time before trying it? I\'d try cleaning the lense. If nothing else, take it back to the store and swap it. It aint worth the headach.

Take turns with a friend seeing who can throw it farther.

Put it in the freezer...then smash it with a sledgehammer.
