Awesome!

I have definitely been keeping you in my thoughts since you joined us here.  I hope that the therapists can help you build yourself up and that you will be dancing with your wife in the near future.

Oh yeah i am gonna beat this at any cost, stinkin insurance finally said ok. I have been fighting to go back for about a year. They would not let me back in till i made some advancement I told my wife to tell them i have been using a straight cane for over a year, when i was in therapy last i could only use a quad cane. If using a straight cane is not advancement i dont know what is.

Not sure what the overall chances are for total recovery, but i will take all i can get.In a week or so i am going to see the the head of therapy and i am going to push for therapy for my left arm to.I try and work it everyday, though nothing is happening.I am believing god for a complete healing, at times like this you have to go with total belief your going to get better. The only other option is just give up and die.

Listen to the theme from "The Karate Kid" alot. It\'ll make your therapy play out like a cool montage.

Good luck buddyman.

what exactly is that you do in therapy? And how is your motor control currently?
Title: Therapy
Post by: fre4d4 on July 30, 2005, 10:17:39 AM
My left foot ihas a slight curviture, meaning it does not sit completely in the brace, so they put me on a tilt table and let my body weight stretch the ankle.Because when i walk now it feels as if i am stepping on nails.AFter i have been on the table for 30 min they uaually have me take a walk down the hall, also when i walk my foot points in slightly, and because of this i have developed a area which is now raw.

My motor control is coming along slowly, i have complete use of my right side. No use of my left arm, i can move my left some what by using my hip. M wife believes my perephiel vision may be slightly off. Ithink the strongest part of my body at this point is my right arm which has developed some decent size. All i can do is everything they ask me to do, and walk as much as i can dispite the pain.

My mom is going through therapy right now also. Nothing like what your doing, but she had some real serious back surgery a few months ago.

She\'s having a rough time. You seem to have a good attitude about things, and I think that helps a ton.

Hey fre4d4, any idea how bad a mini stroke could be?
I had to take my father to the hospital yesterday and they think this might be what happened. He was always coherent, even for a man his age(96). Then yesterday afternoon he said he felt funny and wanted to lay down. When he got up he couldn\'t talk right. It was like he knew what he wanted to say but the right words wouldn\'t come out. It sounded like gibberish. Didn\'t get back from the hospital until midnight last night so i\'m still waiting to hear from the doctors as to the test results. Just sittin here wainting to go back to the hospial so I just thought I would ask.
Thanks

It messed her up a little, but nothing bad at all. She just has trouble writing now. Kinda looks like a little kids writing.

Guar You did good bringing him to the hospital the mini strokes can sometimes be a countdown to a big one.Which is what happened in my case, the dr who did my first surgery figures i had several hundred in the few weeks prior to the biggie.

Thanks for the replies friends. Just got off the phone with the hospital and there is no change in his condition. They said it may take some time. Just worries me that at his age he may not be able to come back.

Sorry I didn\'t get back right away. Been back and forth to the hospital so much can\'t tell if I\'m coming or going. Still hasn\'t been much change can\'t get the right words out and very disoriented.
I think I see a little improvement but it may be a long process.
Thanks for asking, I\'m out the door to the hospital. Once again thanks.

Keeping rthe whole thing in prayer, the body is an amazing thing.I remember right after the first surgery, i was told the nerve endings are like hair folicals and need a chance to regrow, dont let him give up. I can honestly say the fight is not easy, but any thing worth fighting for is not going to be easy.

Have to go to the brace clinic tomorrow before therapy, they are going to take a look at my brace. They want to see if there is something they can do to keep my foot in the brace. In a way the therapy is working  the stretching seems to bring my foot level in my shoe. However when the brace goes back on and i stand up my leg goes into spazms, causing my foot to go rigt o the outside edge, plus my foot points inward, when i walk.I am hopeful they can think of something. There is no way in hell i want to be confined to a wheelchair. I refuse to even think of that. Hey guar, how is your dad doing better i hope!

Hope everything goes well with the brace. Let us know. Dad is now having speech and physical therapy at the house twice a week. Have to watch him like a hawk because he still gets disoriented sometimes and tries to move by himself. Thus I\'m getting maybe three hours sleep per night. Checking into maybe some respite care to give me a few hours off per week. Thanks for asking fre4d4.
