Title: Seperating rhythm from lead etc

Is there any sort of software out there that can seperate parts of songs? obv it coudnt be perfect but i mean just so it was easier to hear a particualr solo on guitar without the backing of the drums etc

well with soundforge you could try to isolate the frequency with a paragraphic eq... then low& hi shelf....

Generally not worth the effort.  You can do some stuff with a good equalizer, either in real time or with a digital recording ala Soundforge, but for the most part it\'s probably better to just train yourself to listen better.

You should probably consider slowing the recording down to 1/2 speed and transcribing it an octave lower.  That can help a lot in separating layers and identifying pitches of short duration.

I think in midi format, its possible.  But not in wav format though...I could be wrong.

Like Chizz said, there are ways to mess with it to bring one out more than the other with programs like sound forge, but no real way to seperate them.
