Hmm so I just got a Philips 27 inch 4:3 HDTV. Of course it\'s not at all the greatest TV, but it was good enough for a bedroom television. Only 480p and 1080i... :stick:
Anyway, my problem is when I play videogames, in the dark areas, it seems that motion blur is suddenly in effect. It\'s starting to irritate me, especially in Halo 2. I can accept the jagged edges, but the motion blur gives me a headache. Colossus, midship, and gemini is like being on an acid trip.
Any help and advice would be appreciated.
blah blah blah

Is it LCD? My guess is that the panel\'s too slow. But if that\'s correct then there\'s nothing you can do about it.

lol.
If your tv have something like VSM, SVM, aka: scan velocity modulation. Disable it. That may helps eliminate the motion blur.

I have a 4:3 CRT, not LCD.
How do I disable VSM/SVM?

Well then you should just disregard everything I said. :D

Samwise,
I wasn\'t laughing at your post. But it kind of looks like it. I was laughing at Soul Reaver\'s joke when he goes "blah blah blah". Hence that explains why you post at the same time I post with the exception I post several seconds slower than yours.:D
Soul Reaver,
unfortunatedly, I am not familiar with Philips TV. Play with the remote control and go to the menu settings and see if there is something that wrote as SVM, VSM, or the sort on the video setting. Turn it to off if you find one.

None whatsoever.

may be of some help:

Doesn\'t say how to turn SVM off but you may be able to in the service menu, if you\'re confident enough to browse through it.
Does the TV have any other "enhancements" or modes that does something to the picture? If so toggle them off/on and see what happens.

Have you tried watching it while not high, you damn pothead?

Thanks for the link, funny how it\'s exactly about my tv model.

I found out how to use the service menu but can\'t keep the settings.
This is getting stupid.

Hey, hey Soul Reaver. I think I found the SVM on your hdtv.
Philips called it Dynamic Contrast, (another marketing name that is basically the same as SVM).
On THX\'s link, there is a user manual guide. I click on it and skimmed through the pages. On page 16, there is something called dynamic contrast.
Just turn it to off. I will just print screen here and attached the pic. I made a red circle to where you need to turn it to off on the pic.

Thanks man.
