Title: Madden 2006
Post by: SwifDi on August 09, 2005, 11:56:20 AM
So far Madden has been getting a lot of heat from reviews (IGN, Gamespots, etc.) and is slowly getting the title of "The First Madden Game that did not exceed the previous" (yeah, quite the long title)...

First off, there ARE new player animations, I just got done with about a 4 hour sitting and noticed new tackles, so I don\'t know what the fuck the reviewers are talking about. Also, I am going to backhand the next crybaby who just can\'t stand the new   Vision and Precision gameplay. So many people are butthurt over learning something new, something that just adds more depth and strategy when playing against human opponents, online, and All-Madden. I\'m already starting to get the hang of it, like everything, practice makes perfect.

My only gripe is them changing the X and O buttons on defense, so I\'m still finding myself cycling through players backwards and changing them when I want to sprint, and vice versa. Either way, something I can adjust to.

I\'m not going to say that EA did the best that they could do with Madden 06\', but I will say that the game has made as many significant changes as it did from 04\' to 05\'.

They switched up the controls on NCAA also, you\'ll get used to it after a couple days of playing.

i like it more than 05...i HATED 05 with a passion.

im also pretty tired of hearing about how bad the qb vision thing is. Manning is huge because of his awareness..how did that play into the game before? never did...now they implemented it in a system people have to get used to.

i also hate that they switched the sprint button on D..no point in it. And holding R2 is tough with switching players with the cone especially if u want to pass to R1 really quick. And holding L1 er L2 to sprint can be kind of a pain

Time for my one post every six months.

The default controls suck, however, if you pause the game and choose controller layout, you can pick the 05 settings.

does it keep X as sprint on offense for running with the QB? or does it tuck the ball? cuz triangle is a reciever instead of X.

and does it keep the cone and stuff thats new?

Yeah I was really considering just changing the controller setup, but for the sake of conveniently playing pickup games I decided I\'d just get used to the new default controls.

I\'ve gotten frusterated a few times with switching the cone using R2, its so fucking slow... I\'m starting to get into the habit of using the right analog as another control that moves my neck.

I guess its probably not too bright to be getting used to all of this using the 49ers (Alex Smith doesn\'t have much awareness), but I\'m hoping in the end it makes me that much better.

they might slack off knowing people will buy the game cuz it is the only professional american football title on the market.  update the rosters and add a new gimmick.  that is all they really need to do to keep selling.  before, with competition, they would need to do more.

I dunno, even with ESPN2k around, all Madden really did every year was update rosters, few new tackle animations, and one new gimmick anyways.

People (mostly non-football fans, and faggots) still give me shit about paying 50 dollars a year for new rosters, and I really have no problem with that. Especially considering last year the only games I bought were Madden and NCAA.

Oh, and I guarantee this is the last game we ever see Vision & Precision. Although I\'m getting used to it, its just really not very fun. All it does is delay me getting the ball to an opened reciever.

Truck stick is awesome.

The running mini-game is also fun.

Terrell Davis is a spectacular voice actor.

Tits are great.

I agree with Swifdo, I doubt we see the vision gimmick next year.

They\'ve added new features and tackles and other stuff what more do you want them to add before next Gen systems come out?

I picked up 2001. Definitely not my bag. I\'m thinking of getting Blitz: The League just to support Midway. I didn\'t like Madden before, but after what EA has done lately, now I don\'t like it out of principle.

played this years madden and I have to say i actually liked it. I was hearing from madden heads that it was so terrible. Maybe because the last madden I bought was on psx.

And all the others I played I hated. This one was kind of fun.
Missing the presentation of 2k. But I think next years madden will the one that just blows everyone away.

All in all I will be getting the 360 version.

Yea before 2001 the last one I bought was 96 for Game Boy.

I didn\'t miss anything.

Blitz The League could be worth the purchase, even if not just to spite EA.

Apparently the writer of Playmakers is involved in the storylines for this game, so it\'s worth a rent at the least in my book.

I think it\'s alright.

I think the new passing stuff is interesting, and adds some new challenges for people that had mastered passing before.

Only thing - wtf were they thinking with these controls?

To avoid accidently muting online, the mute button is now on... the running stick? That makes no sense.

And why is pump fake the same button i need to press to switch who im looking at?

One major complaint, if it takes me twice as long to pass, it should take them twice as long to get through the Offensive line.

im officially sick of madden online. I dont even think theyre trying to combat the ghey stuff people figured out how to do..so it just gets worse and worse. Which isnt completely EA\'s fault..i hate the majority of madden online people.

offline is a different story. play like 1 er 2 games a day. cant stand the gameplay of 2k5, even though they obviously have the upperhand on graphics (i hate the way the player\'s heads look though).

still playin\' 2k5....that game is better than madden 06 and it\'s a year old....the gameplay is still fresh and presentation still kicks madden\'s ass! it\'s amazing how madden hasn\'t changed! i played 06 in EB awhile back and trust...you take out that bulls**t ass qb view and you\'ve got madden 02 all over again! :p
