Well, i\'ve gone err up in the world. I\'ve got a job making switch boards and pumps, forklift driving and other various jobs.
I\'ll be on over 40000 per year. But i\'ll pretty much be doing shit loads of overtime. I\'ll be at this company probably for 3 years. I start my electronics course next year, but they will allow me to continue to work there while i\'m at school.
So after my course my pay could go anywhere from 60000 to 120000 depending on what department i end up in. Personaly i hope i end up in a 120k department ;)
-
well good luck naty. but you know, if you get into the 120k dept, your take home pay will be 60k because you\'d be at the top marginal tax rate. whereas if you were only earning 60k, you\'d be able to take home.. 40 k or something... marl marl

Here\'s what I got out of this...
(1) I\'m doing construction work.
(2) If I go to school, stay at this job, slaving in overtime, I may, eventually get a better paying position. I\'m hopeful, but should realize that isn\'t always how the world works.
Congrats on the new job, but don\'t feel to let down when you don\'t make it where you plan to get.
But then again, isn\'t that how it works? When I started my job, it was suppose to be a "temp" thing until I decided to go back to school and get some certs. Guess what? I sort of enjoyed it, kept workin\' there and have since been promoted and before end of the year, lookin\' at another promotion. Life works in funny ways.

Construction? wtf...
It’s not construction, its building power boards for pumps, and other boards for companies. It\'s all in house, no field work.
Overtime is a choice thing, not a have to thing. I\'ll get time in a half making it around 29ph rather then 20.
While full time schooling, it\'ll be 1 or 2 days a week for a little extra cash. Our government pays for our schooling.. mostly...
After school or even during I’ll probably be moved to their electronics department. hell, after schooling i may not want to stay there anyway.
They\'ve hired me on the premise I’m doing my electronics cert. So i\'d be amazed if i didn\'t end up in a electronics department, if i didn\'t. I\'d simply find work elsewhere. If i hate it, I’ll leave... options, gotta love em.
ohh and mm, don\'t try to insult construction workers, they probably make more then you. I\'ve got mates in construction pulling 200K+ per year. Even if it was construction, who gives a fuck!! infact, it\'s probably better to be in construction here then electroncis/comps etc. Theres a huge shortage here for labourers.
To be honest, i\'m surprised at the reactions from some of the people here, it\'s a all new low.

Indeed, with the economy nowadays a decent job with future opportunities to get where you want is a great start.
I worked hard on my portfolio to get me this internship at the
game dev studio. Depending on my own performance there\'s
chance at real employment. Opportunities are gold today.
Don\'t mock it becuz they don\'t look as shiny as yesterday\'s economy.

so do you have to wear a plastic helmet?
-

-
naty would look so jailbait in a plastic hardhat.

So, what does 40,000 woodchips buy now\'a\'days?}
-
1 buys your mum.

My "mum"? Doubt it.
She\'s free.

Ok, i start my new job tomorrow, but i\'ve been offered a full-time technician job with cworld. I\'d personally prefer to work at cworld doing what i love, building / troubleshooting pcs.
This would only be for 4/5 months till i go to tafe, which they won\'t know about... Problem is, if i piss off the job im in now and do the trail run and they find i\'m not suitable. I\'ve lost 2 jobs
this is really tearing me up, i got the first job through a mate but applied for the second pretty much at the same time. I have no idea what to do. I\'m thinking of working these 2 days, seeing how i go, then working saturady for a trail period.. If i can do that i\'ll do it. By sunday i can decide which place i want to work at......... Fuck Fuck FUCK!!

technician > construction worker

Well, Nathan... Cworld job sounds great. Just explain to them that you\'re in a tricky situation. They\'ll understand.
