It was an animal trainer and his lions playing around. And why would the camera man conveniently focus on the people\'s faces? Also, lions go for the back of the neck if they really wanted to kill.

With a bit of camera shake, close in zoom shots, you can\'t see the lion is just playing with the trainer.

This was in Faces of Death way back in the late 70s.
