Title: The PS3 Luna tech demo for your PCs
Post by: Unicron! on August 12, 2005, 11:12:14 AM
Some of you may remember the Luna tech demo on Sony\'s press conferrence were NVIDIA showcased some of the RSX\'s abilities.

It seems that NVIDIA made it available for everyone to test it on their Gforce cards.

 http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_nvidia.html

Its available here plus a couble of other probably as technically impressive demos to test.

I am sure that the level of detail present on the Luna press tech demo can already be attained by todays top PCs with only the framerate lacking.

So here is a chance to test it, post pics and share your impressions :)

I tested these a while ago, runs pretty slow on my 6800 though. These two tech demos are prolly the best released by nVidia, very impressive in motion.

I wonder at what fps RSX ran the Luna demo.

I wonder too but I am estimating 50-60 fps after watching the other PS3 demos like Molina\'s face, UT3 engine, Fight Night, Project Force, Ni-Oh and Lair demos.
 But who knows for sure?

Anyways, I am sure Nvidia\'s new PC graphics card will reach that amount of detail at steady and smooth framerate

Still, for anyone looking to buy a new videocard or pc, I advise to wait.

Great as it might be, 7800GTX is probably a transitional card . I have a 6800GT and very happy with it. @ the studio I work on a 6800GT equiped pc too, in 3DsMax.

For Gf 6 owners I\'d advise to wait for G80 or Ati\'s next chip which\'ll feature sm3.0 then as well.

When it comes to ATI vs Nvidia, it just depends on whats the current best bang for the buck.

When it comes to Intel vs Amd

amd all the way...... ;)

ok it looks alright.  When I enabled 4xAA + 8xAF is stuttered to 20-30fps on my 6800gt.  Without it it still played choppy when all elements were on screen.

I still like the Dawn demo much better. :D
