Title: Sufjan Stevens
Post by: Metal Gear on August 29, 2005, 02:54:58 AM
This guy is taking the world by storm!

He\'s planning on making 50 albums, each one representing an American State.

His latest album "Illinoise" is getting huge scores on every major music website.

I\'ve listened to it very briefly but the music is strange.Kinda folk, indie, pop and country.
It\'s very layered.

Just listen to the song "John Wayne Gacy Jr".

It\'s about the famous serial killer(from Illiniose) and it\'s a heartbreaking song.

Also, check out the great double album "Blinking headlights and other revelations" by the amazing band Eels.

Heh, a buddy of mine notified me of this music.

Eh, it\'s ok-ish imo. Some of his songs \' lend\'  quite
some notes from the Cure though.

i just got "illinoise" the other day and i have to say it might be one of the better albums i\'ve ever heard
its absolutly not my type of music but this dude has got his shit together
illinoise, chicago and decatur are probably the best songs
but this album with the big chorus and string sections reminded me more of The Polyphonic Spree more than anything else

+1 on friend liking his musics

his stuff sounds futuristic, nice but too advanced for my feeble brain.  I\'ll probably end up worshiping the guy in several years

I like his stuff as well. My friend just introduced me to this guy and I like what I\'ve heard so far.

The "one album for every state" claim he made last year (or whenever) is toootally not happening.

And if it does, don\'t expect Illinoise-level quality. :)
