Freakin\' had to wait an hour for gas, coz half the gas stations are out of fuel. And the price is about $0.70 more expensive: around $3.29 a gallon.

And why was the Dance Dance thread locked? Not everyone knew about that. I was gonna post the article regarding the video. And as usual, mm spews his basement dwelling inferiority complex. What a racist loser.
-
Sounds like another normal day here ;)

Gas problem is because LA has a gas line that supplied 15-25% of the nation\'s gas, and it\'s been stopped.

Heard rumors that all gas stations in DC closed at 2pm.  Turned out it was just that, a rumor.  But I did see a station only offering premium, for $3.29.  Right down the street you could get it all for less.

PS- you\'re such a tabloid whore lol ;)

				2.71 in the AK.

Good thing the public transit is efficient.

 2.71?

You have nothing to bitch about.  That was gas prices here BEFORE this disaster.
-
				I wasn\'t bitching.

By the way- you have nothing to bitch about- look at other parts of the world\'s prices.

				Can you even drive yet?

Fuck that. We\'re at $1.23/Litre, and that\'s ridiculous. The highest I\'ve ever seen it. It jumped $0.20 overnight.

What do you guys think about opening up ANWR?

Personally, I dont think so- the money we spend creating that should be put into energy alternatives.
-
I think the gubment should have a strong energy-alternative department.  Hire the top engineers, scientists, and whoever else needed to make something to efficiently replace the internal combustion engine.  That won\'t ever happen so right now it\'s in the hands of the private sector.

Toyota and Honda seem to be doing a good job but I think much more can be done if people weren\'t making so much off of oil.
-
already done, we have engines that run on hydrogen and exhaust water vapor

 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen_car

 who\'s gonna pay for it?
-
I hate the whole "well Europe pays more" argument... If you put it into perspective we pretty much break even, because their cars are so much smaller in accordance to their tiny roads, and fuel efficient. Since we actually were innovative and constructed large highways we built bigger cars. My parents live in Italy and my mom drives a Ford Mundeo which doesn\'t have to be filled  for like weeks.

-
Since we actually were innovative and constructed large highways we built bigger cars.

 lol, sure.
it\'s more like bob has to have a bigger vehicle than steve, and god forbid ralph have a faster car than chris.

we built the roads to accomodate the big ass cars, not the other way around
-
Either way, we suffer from urban sprawl much more so than any european country.

-
If everyone drove this we could at least hold off on hydrogen cars for a while :)

its 2.99 and 9/10ths by me. I guarantee noone here will really complain and it wont be on the news until it hits 3 bucks, then its all of a sudden armageddon and were going to be poor. IT WENT UP A WHOLE 10th OF A CENT! It is pretty phsycological seeing a 2 on the board there instead of a 3...guess their hoping itll attract more people there instead of other places.

Up north a bit it gets really expensive.
-
Any explanations on the price increase?

-
Katrina caused a massive increase. What was 2.94 a gallon, is now 3.04 a gallon here in Kentucky. I won\'t sit here and complain about the prices, but I am curious as to when it will go back down or if it\'ll go back down. This could be one of those things we will just have to learn to live with.

-
				The prices increased globally though

-
There just happen to be Oil rigs out in the Gulf where Katrina hit and destroyed/impaired.

 Exactly.

Just as billions of years of evolution were needed for some species to exist and they are extinct or are under the threat of extinction in a matter of years.
-
				did the oil evolve?

 come on, at least try
-
No but the logic regarding how much time was needed for the oil to be created is no indication on how much time it will last until we run out of it.
You cant measure it.Typical logic is often flawed.

edit: Do you know how many years are needed for one litre of oil to be created? No?Exactly

I know my car though "drinks" gas like water
-
how much time was needed for the oil to be created is no indication on how much time it will last until we run out of it.

 there\'s a direct relation

do you know how much oil is under the crust? no?  do you head a headache when fathoming anything but worse case scenario?

it\'s like we didn\'t kill dodo\'s faster than they could reproduce
-
Ok then,Since you mentioned the Dodo example then I believe you will agree that a certain amount of oil is being consumed extremely faster than it needed for the same amount of oil to be created

-
yes, but the amount we use will take centuries more before we reach a point where we upset the balance, let alone go downhill

oil is still being created, everyday
-
				How did you measure that?

What you fail to understand is that there only a certain amount of cheap oil we can extract from the earth and reserves of that oil is decreasing and its becoming harder to extract since we are running out of it.
Its extremely costy to extract every bit of oil from earth\'s deeper layers and thats not the same as the oil we have been extracting and proccesing.
Its costly inneficient, productiively inneficient, more time consuming that there is no point.
And the oil we know now didnt take only centuries to have the form we are using. We are talking about millions of years.

Earth is not a factory that produces oil on our demand. Our demand is increasing more than the supply.Thats why the price increase.

 Its ecomonics.

earth has been producing oil for millions of years, we\'ve barely tapped it

what you fail to understand is that oil companies are already prepared for "when" we run out.

next week for you, and many centuries from now for me
-
Earth needed millions of years to produce oil, NOT has been producing oil for millions of years.

 There is a huge difference.

Crude oil--->needs millions of years of natural processing to be created
-
earth is guessed at 4.5 BILLION years old, how many years of that was producing oil?

 quite a few, you\'de say
-
But earth hasnt been producing oil for 4.5 billion years and neither can we extract and use every amount of oil from every layer. ;)

-
and we\'re not gonna come close to running out next week

-
Nobody said we will run out of it in a matter of weeks anyways

-
				oh?

-
				huh?

-
I heard a rumor from a friend that (and this is a conspiracy theory btw) the oil will run out in the Earth in 25 years and it will be the end of the world.

-
I had a professor, a PROFESSOR explain to us in a lecture that the current oil supply will last 40 years.

He\'s also a hippie and smokes too much pot.

We can make crap into fuel. Methane. I make those at least twice a day....all the ruffage I eat.

-
earth has been producing oil for millions of years, we\'ve barely tapped it Oil, also known as "fossil fuel", isn\'t something that is easily made. Oil isn\'t amazingly far down in the crust...because oil came from prehistoric animals, not the earth. The earth just turned the animals into fossil fuel (oil). Do you think that earth makes its own oil or something? :stick: There has to be animals for this to occur. There isn\'t an unlimited supply and human beings consume a ridiculous amount of natural resources.

Fossil fuel: A hydrocarbon deposit, such as petroleum, coal, or natural gas, derived from living matter of a previous geologic time and used for fuel.

40 years may seem like a long time but its not. This is something that concerns many economologists, politicians and scientists.

Almost everything that uses energy uses  oil.

 Economists:

There are probably billions of cars traveling on the streets using gasoline, factories that work with fuels produced from oil, countless of fuel consuming flights made everyday  ,ships making trades using oil, electricity...almost everything that uses energy is based on oil.

Before the oil runs out its logical to expect oil supply decreases with higher demand which leads to oil price increases. When the price of oil increases transport, production, trade and almost everything else\'s price increases.

We know that result due to oil price increase because it also happened in the 70s (due to political reasons though).

Probably many countries will suffer from a great depression

 Scientists:
It will be hard to adapt all energy consuming facilities, vehicle owners , planes etc to a new form of energy in a matter of a few decades.

 Politics:
So whats going to happen?Probably political crisis as to who\'s going to exploit previously unexploited areas that have oil, and from whom, in what price and under what conditions other countries will have to purchase oil from.

Oh I am so offended.I am an idiot because I have an opinion with which you dont agree with.

 Unless you dont like democracy

I d like to see you debating in a forum where people dont call others idiots for having a different opinion and in which there is more variety in opinions. You wouldnt stand a chance there.

You havent even brought up an arguement because you dont have one.You only post calling me or any other who shares the opposite opinion an idiot and I ve seen this in the other forum in which I am banned.

I didnt call anyone an idiot for having a different opinion than I have.I am making a conversation and in conversations you discuss and bring out any epicheiremas.Something you are not capable of doing. You dont have any manners. You are acting like an asshole trying to find the perfect excuse to bitch on me and you know that perfectly just like the other time you pm\'ed me

Since I am such an ignorant in your opinion and not worth discussing with then dont waste any time of your "precious" time calling me an idiot just to show off.PLEASE.

If someone brings out the right arguements I ll agree with him because I am not absolute.

You are in my ignore list from now on.I suggest you should do the same thing with me since I am not worth discussing with
