http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/
Available soon, 2 or 4gb of flash storage so you can run, jump, and circle strafe without worry since it has no moving parts.
Pretty neat, but I\'ll wait to see how small they can get the mp3 player/cell phone combos.
-
i cant decide if its worth getting..how much are normal ipods? like $200 er $300? Can buy a little guitar amp or an acoustic that i need with that.
Id just really want one for the hour breaks i have every day between classes.
-
what about.....IPOD flea?:bounce: :bounce: :p
-
I\'m getting this because I\'m pretty much just a consumer whore.

sheesh.
what is that like almost $1000 worth of mp3 player right there?
-
Half that.
-
I thought everyone had an iPod by now?
Luckily I dont.
-
I got a Dell Jukebox. You\'re paying for the name with the ipod... once that screen gets fucked up or battery dies... good luck with customer service
-
Battery problems have been fixed.
My wife got me the shuffle. Man, I want the Nano.

I also had a 3G 20 gig iPod. I dropped it and it barely worked anymore. I called customer support and now they are sending me a 20 Gig 4G Color Screen iPod for free. I have to send my old broken one as proof, of course.
No hassle here, their customer service seems really nice.

No kidding?
I thought iPods were like $300 a piece.

So what did you tell them? "Uh, it suddenly stopped working..."

If you have apple care as long as you don\'t say, "I hit it repeatidly with my hammer", they\'ll replace it. Hell they will even replace bad headphones if you bring them in.

Pretty much correct. You can get more than one free headphone if you ask, they give it away like candy. If you had too much trouble replacing your iPod, they give you a dock along with it.
Although there is another way to get those things free without any hassle at all.

Yeah, you could always \'find\' them. :D

You can get cooler mp3 players for less.

..I thought about buyin\' an mp3 player for work, but then I decided a TV would be a better investment...
Yes, just thought I\'d add that.
-
Just saw a commercial for one during the football game. Look pretty sweet.

I had one of those. It\'s a pretty good mp3 player.
Gave it away anyway, once I got my nano.

Even their ads copy the iPod, it\'s not a bad player but their marketing tactics just suck
-
zen micro is what i went with after plenty of research
it\'s rock solid
ipods are for the sheep
-
iPods are also for those who prefer a good UI that\'s far superiour navigation wise compared to the competition
-
Or they got a discount.....
-
yup..i got the student discount.
decided i didnt NEED an acoustic but my hour breaks are too boring not to have one. So i got a mini ipod..run the risk of buying it before the price goes down because of the nano but the guy there had no idea when that would happen so i just bought it.
-
good UI?
you scroll and pick a song
how pretty can it be made?
guess sacrificing sound quality for "cool factor" is important
-
What do you guys think about this?

WAAAHH
c wat i did der lol!1

EvX- I\'ve had my eye on that for a while now. Possibly the slickest screen ever. If they upped the capacity a tad it would be worth the price imo.
-
I\'ll probably get it anyway, despite the price. It\'s a gig and that\'s all I really need, and it\'s really small and has a long ass battery life, which is really nice for bringin\' to the gym (which is what I\'ll mainly be getting one for).
-
you need a 1000 songs for the gym?
and it\'s hardly "small"
i have a 128mb sandisk that i strap to my arm when i go biking, that\'s small
-
Mp3 players are the new fanny-pack.

Navigation good buddy, unlike other players you can find and select a song without ever taking your thumb off the scroll wheel with the iPod.
-
omgz, i have to take my thumb of the button!!!11
oh, was cruising the ars-technica review of the nano, and this caught my eye:
Battery is soldered in
enjoy your brick
-
I won\'t buy something that I can\'t easily replace the battery in... unless apple is willing to replace these nano\'s when/if the battery does give out?
-
^ I bet they will. By the time the battery dies (around 2 years time), the cost of making a Nano will have significantly dropped.
Ipods are also a cash cow of theirs so I would assume they\'d provide decent customer service to keep us sheep roaming back. In addition to the stories posted above regarding the Apple store I\'ve heard similar ones from friends.
