tell us more
-
Eh...No thanks.
Joss Whedon is average at best.
Buffy sucked.
Angel sucked.
Firefly was medicore.
Wonder woman will suck.
Goin\' to have to past. Then again, I hate sci-fi films!
;)
-
The Corpse Bride was awesome! And anyone who disagrees is gay. :p
-
I can\'t tell if its sarcasm cause the previews make this movie look like trash.
-
I\'ve yet to see The Corpse Bridge, the fiance wants to see it, may go tommorw.
-
I still want to see Four Brothers. Heard some good things about that.
Weird thing is Serenity looks like it would just plain suck, Battlefield Earth style, but all the reviews, both professional and word of mouth, are great. I\'ll try and get some friends to see that this weekend.
Corpse Bride also got great reviews, but I\'m skeptical about this. I\'d like to be surprised personally.
A History of Violence also opens today, and the reviews are better than any of the films mentioned here. So many movies, no time to see em. :\\
-
Eh, I saw Four Brothers and while it had some entertaining parts, for the most part it was just another boring action film. Go in with very low expectations and you may enjoy yourself somewhat.
-
When did you break down and watch firefly?
Btw firefly was awesome.

Well, I gotta admit being a Whedon whore.
I watched Buffy, Angel and Firefly. And I\'ll probably see Serenity as well (on DVD at least).
-
Firefly was mediocre? Why? How? Do you own the DVD set?

Finally get to find out whats up with River. Cool
-
Personally I thought River was quite annoying in Firefly. She\'s my least favorite character. But who knows, if it hadn\'t been cancelled she might had gotten better along the way.

I just got back from a date seein\' that movie. I enjoyed it. Not on par with TNBX-Mas, but it was still very enjoyable.
-
Did you really have the abbreviate The Nightmare Before Christmas?
-
I figured people would know what it was anyway.
-
Just got back from Serenity.
Not going to spoil it, but there was a couple of things I thought were negative. *cough*
Otherwise, very sweet flick. Like an episode of the series on steroids.
-
I never got around to watching the show. It looked interesting, but when I finally decided I was going to start watching it, the show was cancelled.

I thought this was better than Nightmare before Xmas. Both have their merits but this was just more charming.
What his fetish with death anyways?

Go to Hot Topic and pose that question.

I thought they were both excellent, but I\'m still swaying toward The Nightmare Before Christmas. They were both fun though.
-
I thought Serenity was totally fantastic, totally blew me away from what i was expecting. Only gripe were the B grade special effects but I guess its to be expected considering the budget was non exisitant.
I really hope they make a sequel and explore more deeply into River.
Did anyone ever see the now defunct Firefly?
-
While I\'m sure it\'s much better for "fans" of the show (a lot of the humor comes with knowing the characters), I hope it does well at the box office. It would not only ensure they make the whole planned trilogy, but ensure better budgets for the next two, and it might give future \'envelope pushing\' tv projects a chance.
-
mm... recommended a movie... currently IN theatres... wtf?
-
Racer: What\'s to explore into River?
She\'s already among the most developed characters. I\'d say "give another character a chance to show their backstory" but frankly it\'s not a big deal on a show like this.
We know that Mal/Zoe are war-timers, and Jayne is a thug. Book had a lot of past as did Wash, but Wash seemed pretty shallow anyway. Kaylie is too "nice" to have an interesting past, and for those of you who\'ve seen Firefly.. you know the circumstances under which she met Mal. :)
Inara is a companion, which in this series seems to be a mystical profession in ways. There might be some good backstory there.
Simon is pretty fleshed out already. He\'s a pretty-boy, soft-spoken doctor. Enough said!
-
Sweet, someone else with a Dr.Fate avatar...
Anyways, last time I checked the box office take in, it looked like Serenity wasn\'t doin\' so hot. If someone else has some more up to date gross amounts, please post.

Uhhh, and with the 39 million production cost, this is not a very good start. I\'m thinking the movie studios (which for some reason never include DVD sales and international box office in their calculations) are not going to make this into a trilogy. That said, Universal could still make made-for-tv movies or bring it back as a series on sci-fi - either of which would keep me happy. Studios hate supporting this kind of project, and I have no doubt that they will want to see their cost recouped pre-DVD sales before they\'ll agree to sequels.
The only things Serenity\'s numbers have going for them is:
A) Cheap production cost of movies. If serenity can have another weekend like this, they might just factor in the DVD and international profit, and decide that sequels are worth it.
B) Second place behind Flightplan, so the studio might blame the viewer apathy this year - rather than the movie.
Course... I should think positive. Yes, it was an awesome movie, and by golly, if there\'s one thing that firefly/babylon5/family guy DVD releases taught us it is that us geeks have massive consumer buying power.
-
When you factor in the budget, that isn\'t all that well to begin with. DVD sales will knock that up quite abit, but if it doesn\'t make budget or exceeed by the time its over, then I wouldn\'t count on any sequels.

First nine minutes of Serenity online:
http://video.vividas.com/CDN1/3929_Serenity/web/index.html
You may have to use IE to open it.
I haven\'t seen the movie and this video is like a giant tease!
-
It\'s a good sequence.
-
bottom line: do i need to see the series prior to seeing the movie?
-
No, but I\'d strongly suggest seeing the series anyway. DVD, Sci-Fi Channel.. internet..
The most skeptical people I\'ve introduced it to have liked it the most, oddly enough.
-
yea, just netflixed this. It kicked ass. :) Like a mix of Cowboy Bebop, Metal Gear Solid, Matrix, with a tougher, wittier version of Han Solo thrown in.
Now I\'m all interested in the series. Kaylie is hot, I wanted to smack that doc upside the head early on in the movie.
I still prefer 5th Element to this one, but Serenity isn\'t far behind.
Any word on a trilogy?
-
Get the series, it\'s kewl. And prolly pretty cheap.
