So last year\'s tsunami took out like 700,000 people. We lost 2,000 people on 9/11, we\'ve lost 2,000 more in Iraq, and another 1,000 with Katrina. An earthquake just claimed like 30,000 in and around Pakistan and mudslides and Stan picked off another 800 or so in Guatemala.
This isn\'t normal, right?
Not following the news is way better than following it.

There are more people on this Earth than ever before so when a natural disaster does happen it probably means death tolls will be high.
-
That\'s true. If you factor in inflation, more people died in the 80s.

And actually 2,986 people died in 9/11
Did it pop into anyone else\'s mind that maybe Osama was killed in the Pakistan quakes?

cnn popped it in there for me. But i doubt it...if so it would be pretty ironic (probably not the best word)..look for him for 4 years and have nature kill him.
but i was thinking this same thign after hearing about the earthquake and mudslides. But i never thought of population rising so a bigger % died in the 80\'s.
Cant help but think theres a big earthquake coming here (since itll eventually hit)..was a threat of it when there were like 4 little earthquakes here in like 2 weeks. Guess ill put my head under a pillow till it happens...

earthquakes are overrated here. My whole life iv been through one \'bigger\' that i dont even remember. I just remember my mom getting my out of bed and everything being over by the time i was out. Ironically, iv seen the people that yearly/monthly at times go through hurricanes saying "i cant believe u live in california with those earthquakes."
Ill take the weather any day. today its 76 deg., no clouds in the sky.

Even with all of these tragedies, it still won\'t make a dent in the total world population. The only thing to ever lower the planet\'s population significantly was the Bubonic plague.
We\'re tenacious little bastards, us humans.

Next we will have the bird flu. We have too many people on this planet anyways, we need to adopt china\'s policy for the poverish and make sure they don\'t have more than one kid.
-
having more kids than we can support, is what you meant
-
which means it could easily be a 0 kid maximum. unfortunately they don\'t have enough money to buy condoms. :p

haha@ Inflation with death.
Classic.
