Title: FEAR multiplayer demo
Post by: THX on October 11, 2005, 07:04:55 PM
Any you guys play it?  My projector is on the fritz so I wanted to see what else I could waste my time with.

From what I played it\'s really fun, leaning while running, 1-3 shot kills, realistic weapons and fx...

Only thing is my computer feels like it\'s ancient even with a speedy p4 and oc\'ed 6800GT.  Gotta turn the settings down. :(

I was just kidding around.. I have a 6800gt as well.  Its just a little disheartning how quickly something under a yard old gets left behind by new tech so quickly

:(

I played the demo about a month ago and was fairly enganged with it.  Not blown away, but i\'ll definately look into getting it when it\'s released.  What settings did you play it at?

Well to be honest I let the auto-configurer do it\'s thing but then I went into the options and set everything on high instead of custom, then included AA and AF hehehehehehehe

I actually just played the single player demo and didn\'t touch the settings.  Everything looked great and ran well too so all hope is not lost, but I like playing at 4xAA/8xAF  :\\

i tried downloading the F.E.A.R. S/P demo from fileplanet and another site i cant remember (did a google search) and both times i installed it, after i restarted my computer like it told me, when i launch the game it says:

Invalid system-time detected.
Please check and correct your local system-time setting

any idea why its being homosexual?

I heard about this.  You just have some odd glitch with your exact hardware configuration where you have to set the year to 2006 and it should work.

Why that would do it I don\'t know.  But give it a try (double click on the time on your toolbar and change the year) and let us know if it does the trick.

Didn\'t want to make another thread for this, but I just played the COD2 demo.... It looked OK.. nothing great (best smoke i\'ve ever seen tho).

FEAR, COD2 and Age of Empires III all come out this month.  The first 2 this week I believe.

In other news, FEAR (http://pc.ign.com/articles/657/657310p1.html) scores higher than Quake 4 (http://pc.ign.com/articles/658/658263p1.html) on IGN.

Fear\'s out today too :)

The only games I use FSAA on are older titles. The Quake III\'s and (maybe) UT2K4\'s..

Games like Half-Life 2, Far Cry, Doom 3.. subsequently Quake IV.. I need as high a framerate as possible so no FSAA on my 6800GT-OC.. (BFGTech)

Fear crashed my computer :(

Also, on a complete sidenote, why when I try to creep and walk diagonally on Source  does my computer beep at me and not allow it.  So while playing source, holding shift+w+d.  I can walk diagonally to the left but not to the right, my computer just beeps and says no.

^Does your keyboard have a USB or PS/2 connector?  There have always been problems with pressing multiple keys on PS/2 keyboards. :(

Weird, I\'ve never had a problem before this.  Then again, come to think of it I had a different keyboard lasttime I went to play Source.

Been playing the game for a couple of days now, I think it\'s peachy.  Have to OC my cpu, ram and graphics card so I have all my fans turned up on high and have the window open while having my sister pour water over the motherboard to cool it down.

I almost want to go to Newegg and piece together a new AMD X2/PCI-e system with a 7800GT but I have to save up for other things. :\\

I tried the demo and was not impressed in the least. More curious about Quake IV. Don\'t have time for that tho\', still playing X-Men II and Ultimate Spider-Man.

I was gonna get it but I\'m gonna wait. I actually am waiting for Battlefront II to come out. I\'m much more hyped for that game. That comes out in a couple weeks (Nov. 1 I believe).

Has anyone bought the full version yet?  If so how are the multiplayer maps?  I know the game isn\'t terribly long so I\'m wondering would it even be worth it.

I bought n beat it already.  The SP is pretty long.  I beat it in 2 days but the average person will take about twice that or longer.

Multiplayer so far is chaotic but fun.  I have to try out the different modes but my very first time playing I ended placing 2nd out of 16 people.  Lotsa n00bers out there.  I hope there are modes which require more stealth rather than just run & gun all the time.

I recommend buying it.  The last level really scares the sh!t out of you.  I knew what was coming sometimes but I still got goose bumps out the bunghole.  Also, no other game does bullet-time as good as this one.  Makes you enjoy your kills much more. :)
