I\'ve $500 bucks to drop and a new pci express video card but im not sure which one i would prefer nvidia over ati but im even confused on which nvida to get
can you guys help me out?

Nvidia 7800GTX springs to mind, check anandtech.com for the latest benchmarks
-
500?
get a 78000gt for like 380$ and overclock to almost gtx speeds
-
The best card you can buy atm is the 7800GTX from Nvidia. It\'s really the only card worth buying right now (except for maybe a 7800gt like mm said). ATi is coming with the 1800XT in december, but who the hell wants to wait that long.. especially since you have the cash now.
Only problem is you have about 58 different verisons of the GTX... partial to BFG and EVGA myself

it\'s interesting how some of you guys don\'t mind buying a $500 or more on a graphic card, but some of you complain about PS3 being too pricey with Blu Ray and all if it sells $400 or more....
-
Well, those expensive videocards help really well at 3D programs like 3Ds Max and even some video editing apps :D
