About two weeks ago, I bought a 3 pack DVD+R DL discs that was on sale of $10, stilll expensive but I thought I give it an experiment. Two days ago, i try to burned them using DVDShrink and CloneDVD. But all 3 of the discs come out faulty somehow.
The first disc I burned using DVDShrink, none of my dvd players recognized it. But the DVD-ROM and DVD writer could read it. So I did a disc scan quality test, and it read half way just fine, until at 50% where it start to change layer, it seem like the reading just stuck there and can\'t go any further. That\'s really strange.
The 2nd disc I burned, this time I try CloneDVD. It burned fine too until the end of the 2nd layer where the burning starting to making cracking noises. It burned successfully. But only some of my dvd players play it but couldn\'t read the end part of the disc, and neither my dvd-rom or writer recognized the disc at all.
The 3rd disc, I go back using DVDShrink, same thing happen. I heard some cracking noises when it burn the 2nd layer. Strange indeed. And my dvd player won\'t play it, but computer does recognize it...
Afterward, I tried burning single layer disc, it burned fine partway then it stop. And from there on, every single layer disc i burnt seem to burn fine...
So, what could have causes the problem with burning DL discs?

Make sure that the programs you use to burn are compatible with DL.
I\'m not sure which version of DVDShrink you\'re using, but I do know that the program was originally created to cram DL discs onto single layer DVDs.

my biggest guess may have to do with software program problems too.
My DVDShrink v 3.2 which is like a year old version does support dual layers. Well, go to Edit, Preference, and Click on DVD-9 (8.5 GBytes) option and you can burn dual layer disc. i am not sure if this software program have what it takes to accuratedly burn dual layers though since it seem to have problem only with dual layer discs but not single layer...
Same thing with CloneDVD, i also suspected it kind of glitchy burning DVD+R DL which my version also support.
Anybody here ever burn Dual layers and what software did you guys use and do you have any success?
