I\'ve unticked everything I don\'t want to start up when I turn my comp on, and even tried to remove the items from the list altogether via the regestry, most of the things I wanted to remove have gone, but there are some still there.
All the things that are unchecked I want to remove, how do I do it?

Use a registry editor like RegCleaner, or try HijackThis.
-
when I use hijackthis, none of them are listed
-
regedit from start ---> run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run

That\'s where I tried the first time, I deleted the things I found there, restarted my comp, but they are still listed in the startup section.

boot to a dos prompt from a floppy disk/cd
a:\\format c: /y

Actually, I think I found it, it was in the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Shared Tools\\MSConfig\\startupreg bit
