they should turn these into virtual reality video games or something. Or at least scrap \'em out for the aluminum...damn, that\'s a lot of B-52\'s...

Imagine how much money is sitting there.

My question is how many of those are operational, I remember when I lived on base that any of the old relics that you saw while you drove around were "supposed" to be fully functional and operational.

I remember reading something like that myself. From what I recall, they are supposed to be in "holding storage" only, something about being stored for back up purposes, in case there\'s a need for more planes at short notice, in case of a large number of failures that leave them short on machinery.
They do a similar thing with trains I think, they store older disused engines for times of emergency when there\'s high demand.
But in reality, they never use them.

We would have an amazing fleet if we armed all of those with a pilot and some bombs.
WWIII, I see it now...

maybe that\'s what they are for, maybe you lot are secretly training kamikaze pilots
:)

That why we have been collecting all these illegal immigrants.
Fight for our country!

I wouldn\'t mind buying one of those old jets. Sometimes, they use old fighters as a drone (r/c controlled) and they get blown up in training.
EDIT: Those B-52s are Vietnam era bombers (I\'m 90% sure of this). The tail is much bigger than the modern B-52s. It is much smaller on the modern ones. Plus, look at the camoflage. I haven\'t seen a pic of a camoflauged B-52 in a while. Those definitely lived out their life and now they will be scraped and built into some other plane.

What a waste of material. :)
