Go ahead and make fun.  I don\'t mind it as long as it keeps the 360 cooler.

Most definitely. I don\'t see what\'s so funny. Imagine the PS3.

I would prefer an external power supply.  Keep the visible unit smaller, cooler, and keep the nasty EM interference from the high power cords away from the unit and the video/audio outs.

It\'s not like the back of my entertainment wall is pretty anyways, and nobody sees it.

Good idea, my $0.02.

I suppose that\'s why the system is smaller because that beast is on the outside. But you\'re right, you can\'t see it behind all your other stuff, so it\'s really no big deal.

I can live with external power, but that thing is HUGE (I get that a lot). Looks like crap to boot. Yay.

It is real but I dont see any much of a problem.

The only people that might care about it are the Japanese since size is important for their small households. But I doubt that too.

Probably its critical for cooling it down. These things are technical beasts.PS3 might have one just as big too.

It\'s the real deal ; the Xb360 devkits at the studio i work at also has those. Yes, they\'re chunky.

I just grabbed one ; I\'d say it\'s about 500 grams (metric). Maybe a bit more. The powercord is thick and sturdy.

It would be a stunt if Sony can manage to produce a PS3 powerbrick no bigger than PStwo\'s.

I\'d rather have the power supply inside the console. With it on the outside, I have to figure out a safe place to put it because it wouldn\'t be a good idea to let that dangle. But whatever, I would be able to cope.

All I know is I had a chance to play Kameo lastnight and I can\'t say I was impressed. I won\'t comment on gameplay, but the graphics on the demo did not blow me away.

I had expected a lot more from the graphics, but it didn\'t deliver. The controller also didn\'t feel natrual.

IIRC Quake 4 was actually DOWNGRADED on the X360 (fewer polygoners per character etc). This is not because of weak hardware, instead the graphics engine isnt suitable for Multi Thread/Core hardware. So the Doom/Quake engine runs at half the speed on X360.

I suspect we will see that on the PS3 also, poor PC ports that will look like shit.

Anyway, I hope the PS3 will use an external power supply.
Are there any accurate size comparisons between the PS3 and X360?
I have seen one but I doubt it was accurate, cuz the PS3 was MUCH smaller.

EDIT:
I made one myself based on the width of the disc tray, probably not that accurate, but I think it gives an idea of the size.

I couldn’t find a good shot of the original Xbox. :(

You can fit like 8 PStwos in one Xbox.

that would be cool if ps3 is smaller than the original PS2.

But I doubt it.

Look at the USB ports on both PS3 and original PS2.  So, I don\'t think ps3 is any smaller than PS2.  If anything, I think they are about the same size.

it would be more accurate if you guys do a comparison of ps2 and ps3 by measuring its USB ports size instead of the disc tray size imo.

So does this mean the Xbox1 will be the biggest console in history?  I can\'t imagine electronics getting better than that in the future.

Well if they are smart, PS3 will be the size of a stereo component.  I\'d be very happy if I could fit it into my stack rather than having to hodge podge put it on top or on the floor.  That blows nuts.  Just make it like a real slim DVD player.

I\'d never ever stack a gameconsole. It needs some room and breathing space, not a hefty load of machines ontop of it.

Wow.  You are brilliant.

You stack it on components that don\'t need ventilation (Like a DVD player.

You leave gaps over components that need vents like your amps.

You then have fans blowing across it.

Good luck and all.

Ow, sorry....

Well, I have my tv on a little table/cupboard.... the console (now either PS2 or Xbox) 1 meter in front of the tv on the vinyl floor
(carpets are a console\'s death) and my soundblaster Extigy a feet away on the side.

DVD\'s I watch on the pc.
