Title: Saw II
Post by: Eiksirf on October 28, 2005, 05:06:11 AM
Have we talked about Saw II yet? I\'m going to see it with a bunch of ppl tonight.

I wasn\'t that big on it, but the first was good and I read this review from a midnight showing. Minor spoilers. And the reviewer is Canadian. But we shouldn\'t hold that against him.

Awesome, gory, bloody, what you could expect of Saw II!, 23 October 2005

Author: xfear26 from Montreal, Canada

The tag line says it all: Oh yes, there will be blood!

I\'ve had the chance/honor of seeing the sequel of a very anticipated movie this year at the world\'s premiere at the Montreal\'s Midnight Madness and I haven\'t been disappointed one bit. Off course, there was some magic that night, considering the fact that there were hundreds of horror fans expecting a gory sequel to the Saw installment and they got served! Without stating any spoilers, let me confirm that the movie is packed with bloody action and gore at its best. Those who liked the Jigsaw\'s strategy of allowing him the chance of survival to its victims by giving them a puzzle to solve, this time it goes even further. From the start until the end, you\'ll be given puzzling situation in which you wouldn\'t like to be part of at any time in your life. Near the end of the movie, the twisted game gets even more spicy...

I wasn\'t used to hear people applauding at the theater and it created some kind of psycho ambiance in the room that I kinda really enjoyed. The sadistic approach of the Jigsaw killer is still pretty impressive! Without telling you more, go watch it with some friends that will be able to tolerate blood in gallons and you\'ll be served! I give it a 9/10 for its originality, gory moments, interesting story and punch of action. It is rare to see a sequel that beats its predecessor but in this case, it does!

Nope.

Saw  - It had good tension, but most the scenes outside of the torture devices simply did not work. It came off as a poor 80\'s detective flick at time. Sure it got a ton of hype from all those indie film lovers, but they was just blinded. It was not the second coming of horror.

While we are at it, it should be noted that Saw II is just a cheap cash in. It was confirmed along time ago that the Saw II script is actually a unused script from another horror movie that was never produced. It was just quickly tailor to fit the "Jigsaw" character and that newly found \'Saw\' franchise.

Best quote I have seen about Saw II.

Quote
"In the long run, Saw II is a better film than the original, but that\'s like saying being kicked in the groin is better than being punched in the face."

Whenever I see Cary Elwes I can only picture him dressed in a tight Robin Hood outfit :)

I\'m pretty sure the guy who directed Saw (I think his name was James Wan or something) was his first movie ever and t showed in a lot of scenes.

Plus the guy who played Adam was a TERRIBLE actor!! and made stupid choices. Why again did he wait like 30 min to showm Cary the picture of his family all tied up? Its not like he gained anything by holding on to it for a half hour.

Best part about Saw was the ending IMO. Even if it wasn\'t that believable.

You can only picture him nude... :D

Nah, actually it\'s the same for me. I always picture him as Robin Hood as well.

I saw it, and I thought it was really good, but still not as good as the first.

I liked the first a lot and didn\'t think this would come close, but I really enjoyed it.

Pretty gory, but not hokey. Intense and it gets you thinking a couple times, even if the plot is a little non-sensical in a few spots.

I definitely like the Saw movies, though.

If it was even moderatly good it was better than the first.

I thought the first was one of the best horror/suspense films I had ever seen, period.  The second is very good and highly reccomended, especially to those who saw the first, but the characters are not nearly as memorable as the ones in the first one were.

I\'m no film nerd, but I\'ve seen enough shitty horror films to the point where I agree with Hurricane.

It was a good movie and infinitely better than most of the shit that comes down the pike.

But if you don\'t recommend Saw 2, maybe we could all go watch Doom instead.

Went to a showing of it tonight - as far as it goes, it was a standard horror film and you could tell that the script was not written - but more tailored for the \'Saw\' franchise. Infact, up until the "twist" end it sucked.

I\'m no big movie buff myself, but I do enjoy a good horror movie, and would certainly welcome any recommendations.

My favorite horror movie, if you can call it that, would have to be Jacob\'s ladder.  As for Saw 2, I\'d agree that it was much better than most \'horror\' movies coming out these days, but then again, that\'s not saying much.

jacob\'s ladder is a suspense film, not horror

I\'ve seen many, probably over 100, everyone is entitled to an opinion.

I am guessing what you consider a horror film is more of the mainstream crap that is served to you in your cinemas. Then again, I prefer the old 70\'s exploitation films. With that said, Eli Roth\'s new movie \'Hostel\' looks promising.

I agree "Hostel" looks good as well, but I\'ve seen everything ranging from the Audition and Suspiria, to mainstream stuff like Halloween and Friday the 13th... I generally am a fan of all of them, but some more recent films can only be regarded as crap.  Saw is not one of those.

It was a half-ass comment, no offense meant.

Audition and Suspiria are both great films. I still think \'Last House on the Left\' is one of the best ever, but it falls under more of exploitation.

Do you people actually think that because you googled some obscure movie names that that makes you some sort of a movie coinsurer?

You know I watched E. BuchofShite\'s new film UR AHugashole and it was fantastic. So these stupid films you people watch are crap.. Because I know movies.

connoisseur

:p

Anyway, I think everyone has bad taste in movies. Especially LIC and mm. ;)

Revenge of the Leprachaunus Rex Frankenstien\'s Jaws is the scariest film in the world. It was filmed by a couple of Punjabi people in the 1920s. It was so horrific, the film was burned.

But I have the DVD copy.

Heh, I didn\'t see it, but I heard it was god awful. Like, in theory you know it would have to be bad to begin with, but apparently it was just terrible. Not that it matters, but they weren\'t faithful to the Doom storyline. Some people said the Rock was decent, but the kid I talked to who saw it said it didn\'t matter.

So it\'s all second hand info, but apparently the movie was terrible.

I\'ve heard opinions vary a lot on that one. I\'ve heard people say it was a great translation and I have also heard that it is one of the worst translations.

just saw this today. Not as good as the first, but the acting is a lot better than robin hood from the first one..Just a couple things:

[sp] some people are going to say its stupid and yadda yadda but i think its thought out really well..a few things i dont get: 1) why did the chick dig through all those needles? if she was in it the whole time why would she be as desperate as everyone else? and 2) Why did she act surprised about finding the door under the safe? 3) who was the guy that had the knife in his heart that had Obi\'s letter attached to it. I also think they shoudlve gone more into why Obi kidnapped everyone..but i think he was the same situation as Sid in the first one. But he didnt have a tape to kidnap everyone like Sid had to do what he did.

did they ever say what happened to robin hood? they had sid and the other guys body..do we assume he bled to death er something?

lastly..i thought the chick saying "game over" was stupid....she doesnt have the presence of a phsyco[/sp]
