It seems that Bush has chosen to repair his relations with the conservative base rather than try to please everyone. I don\'t like this nomination. Reinquist was a conservative, so Roberts\'s placement as Chief Justice will not do much to affect the court. However, Bush should have stuck with nominating a moderate to replace O\'Connor, perhaps the only voice of reason in a highly divided court. If Alito\'s confirmed, things will obviously start shifting to the right.

I read that he voted to uphold abortion rights in PA I think? He seems fair and well experienced but I think he\'s too conservative.

Alito will be confirmed. Too bad for the whiny insignificant DemocRats.
I may not agree with his abortion stance, but I am fine with everything else about him.
