So, after all these years, I finally play videogames running in component video cable.
Ever since I started playing NES, SNES, Genesis, I uses the RFU connection. During the PSOne era, I uses the composite video connection. Same thing with PS2 era until now. I been using the composite video connection for nearly 7 years and never used a higher video connection before because my TV doesn\'t have a connection higher than composite (S-Video or component)...
My brother bought a 34" HDTV back in December 2003, and it have 3 S-Video inputs, 2 Component video inputs, and a DVI input.
But I never bought either an S-Video or component video connections for it even though I thought about it.
Just yesterday afternoon, nearly 2 years later, I finally bought a component video cable for $10 at Bestbuy and two videogames (kingdom hearts and Star Ocean for another $30 more).
Went home and connected it to the component video input and I revisited some old videogames from PSOne and PS2 first and I notice the color looks more define. No more color smearing, and shades of black looks much more detail. I could definatedly see the shadow detail much, much better now. It makes the picture looks sharper too by being able to show more shades of colors on TV even though the resolution is the same. The color looks just as good as the one I see on computer monitor which uses 24 bits RGB although I rarely play videogames on computer.
It\'s definately worth it even though I admit it took me this long to finally bought a cable higher than composite video. Better late than never I suppose.

Yea I grabbed some cables when I switced to my HDTV.
Mario Kart blew me away. :)

Yeah, next thing I am going to experiment is Progressive Scan on some videogames that support it.

when I made the jump to component cables I thought it made my image look worse. I didn\'t have an HDTV, but it just made everything too sharp, made the jaggies stand out even more than before. Now granted, the colors were dead perfect and the clarity was amazing in some games, I just remember madden looked a little worse in my eyes.
Probably just my shitty television, like the cheapest model you can buy that has component input :shy:

It does bring out the details more, especially the jaggies. I remember when I got the S-video for the PSX and the Jaxx device to play the games on the PC monitor, sure the colors were more saturated and the background looked better, but the imperfections also stood out more.

I\'m using PAL SCART RGB since 2000.
You guys probably notice jaggies a bit more due to NTSC\'s lesser lines.

I do agree the jaggies are more noticeable when using component video connection. Because that\'s how it\'s suppose to looks. The videogames for PSOne and even PSTwo probably didn\'t use anti-antializing, or little of it due to VRAM limitation. And better quality connection show these flaws clearer than crappier video connection.
One thing I like about PAL is that it seems like their TV have SCART RGB connection back from the early 90s or something. While NTSC TVs, most mid to lower ends one only have S-Video connection or only composite at best. But again, NTSC still have better refresh rate of 60 Hz versus PAL 50 Hz...

I\'ve been using Component for a couple years now (well not now since I can only use AV on the tv in my dorm) and I notice a HUGE difference.

run ps2 on VGA here.... doesn\'t get much better then that. :)

We\'ve been enjoying PAL60 since quite some time ;)

I strongly recommend ANYONE who is using Comosite cables switch to S-Video or Component.
I run all of my present video equipment though Monster S-Video cables and it makes a very nice noticeable difference.
I\'ll be hooking up an HDTV sometime next week so naturally I\'m going with Component
