Title: Xbox 360 next shipments
Post by: ddaryl on November 29, 2005, 03:11:24 AM
I wanted to start a thread and get info from people who might have details in regards to the next shipments of Xbox 360\'s to stores.

So far my local Walmart has no clue when they will recieve there next batch, but I\'m convinced somebody knows

So post away if you do have some insight.

so you can only increase the bids by a penny and it costs you a dollar each time you want to bid.

I\'d prefer my chances in a vegas casino to this scam crap.

I\'m hearing reports of Xbox 360\'s hitting major retailers this weekend, but the shipments are limited, but we knew that already

because MS has recalled all the units that were not shipped, refurbished them with the necessary upgrades and then shipped most of the 1st available batch off to Europe, and the next batch will end up in Japan, then N. America will see its real shipment 2 sometime just before Xmas.

I stopped by Walmart today and the Employee I talked to mentioned the callback and once again said they have no idea when the next shipments are coming.

I am hearing the next shipment will be right b4 christmas.  Microsoft is full of bullshit.

People are rushing to pick this thing up. How can a console launch with two different versions of the system? Thats bullshit. I am waiting on ps3. I was all for the first xbox. Now I am like fuck it microsoft continues to makes mistakes.

And their are know games for the thing I currently want to play. Maybe in the next 6 months things might change for now fuck 360 I am saving my cash.

Yeah the whole launch has been pretty screwed.

I\'ve heard Dec 12, and Dec 18 as possible dates, but still no one knows for sure.

:D Japanese Xb0x360 launch report (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/674/674753p1.html)

Of course, imo it would truly benefit  console gamers in general if Xbox360 will do well in Japan ; becuz that will force
Sony and Nintendo to keep sharp.

According to several tipsters, Circuit City has just received a new shipment of Xbox 360s which are available to be specially ordered on a first come, first served basis. Here’s the catch: the warehouses that service several states each are only getting about 170 units per distributor, so don’t expect your local store to receive more than 2 or 3 boxes. Both premium and core bundles will be for sale, though the ratio of premium bundles to core bundles is still unknown. The good news, though, is that anyone placing a special order for the 360 right now could presumably have their hands on a box within the next few days to a week. Of course, there’s a chance that you’ll have to settle for a lowly core package, though a crippled 360 is better than no 360, right? Just so we’re clear, that there’s what they call a rhetorical question.

Ms fudge up so bad. They should have supplied as many 360\'s to north america and europe as they could. There just giving ppl more chances to save their money for ps3.

Too bad they sent extra systems to Japan.

In hindsight they should\'ve given us another 100,000 from the Japanese stock.

Oh well. 20/20.

My guess is they tried to mimick the PS2 launch with a shortage of consoles to increase the hype. Except, in this case, MS just didn\'t release all the consoles they could, Sony actually didn\'t have enough parts and they probably were really scared..but it worked to their advantage.

This shortage thing is pathetic

There was dozens of win free XBOX 1.5s advertisements everywhere

One of the numerous giveaways that should anger XBOX1.5 fans was the Pepsi giveaway.  Pepsi gave away 1 free Xbox1.5 every 10 minutes for at LEAST 2 months = roughly 9,000 units

So Microsoft gave away thousands of XBOX 1.5s and then claimed shortage on launch day.

Some people who ordered Xbox 1.5 and some who waited in line on launch day didn\'t get thier console because Microsoft gave their console to a guy who typed a code number he got off a $1 soda pop bottle into a computer.  Then he probably sold it on ebay for twice the price.

seriously, i really haven\'t even seen much buzz about the 360 on tv,...are there any good games for it?...i mean to me it seems like that this launch has been a real quiet one,..i mean i\'m not gonna front before the 360 came out i was really amped about it...the one game that had me hooked was gears of war..i don\'t know, maybe when it gets more games it will start to come together better....

There are some cool games on the 360

Call of Duty 2 is awesome, but its aport.

PGR3 is fantastic, although many say its no different then PGR2, I\'ve never played PGR until 3.

Kameo is short but good

Perfect Dark is receiving decent acclaim.

All of the EA sports efforts were average or below average, and there were a couple other turds. I\'d have ot say the Xbox 360 launch parallels the PS2 launch in terms of games at launch.

Oh and Best Buy is supposed to be a go for Xbox 360\'s  this Saturday the 18th.

If you are interested is getting one or flipping one you might want to plan for Sat. There is a confirmation of this at IGN

Happy hunting, I hope a few of us get lucky for whatever reason you choose.

Oh please. Mario 64, Pilotwings and.... That was it for like a month, right? Then after forever it was like oh nice "Mortal Kombat Trilogy and Cruisin USA!"

At least we got WaveRace, heh.

Games are not the problem at the 360 launch. I have four good ones myself and could still go out and buy Call of Duty 2 and PGR3. Gun looks neat if not average and there\'s always the token Tony Hawk game if you\'re into that...
Some kids probably like Amped, too.

N64 at least had Mario which easily overshadows anything that\'s on the 360 now.

360 wins in the variety department though, so you can brag about that eik :)

50% (if not more) of the titles are EA rehash sports games and yet more FPS\'s

where was the fighter?
and most importanly...the allmighty RPG

Not to mention the majority are sequels or beefed up versions of already launched titles.

They shouldn\'t have bothered with Japan until the new year.  They\'re not such big Chrismas shoppers, and without a launch RPG, the writing was on the wall for a failure.

Had they done so, met more of the demand in NA and Europe, this would have been at least a decent launch.  Still probably sold out in those areas, and Ebay selling 360s, but not as high.  This could have been followed by a better launch than this dismal one in the new year for Japan.  Afterall the people buying a box in Japan were the hardcore fans, who would buy one Chrismas or not.

If you\'d have said that a few months ago you would\'ve been in line for a hiring and then a promotion within Microsoft.

PS2 launch wasn\'t that wonderful, and like Xbox 360 didn\'t have any real new titles to choose from until Feburary / March after launch

The PS2 did try to work in a little more variety, but overall I still think in the terms of launch overall quality of games the PS2 and Xbox 360 are pretty close. There really wasn\'t that much to get all jazzed about with the PS2 launch lineup either. the PS2 launch was good, with a few rock solid titles mixed in. Very similiar to the Xbox 360

I spotted 2 360 core systems on the shelf at my local Walmart last night.  Not a real good sign for the #1 hot item this holiday but to be fair when xbox launched here I could have still picked one up on Xmas eve. A GC? No.

In contrast it wasn\'t until June after launch before I saw a PS2 sitting on the shelf at the same two stores- Walmart & KB (now gone). For what its worth take into account its a population of 60K that has at least a 1 1/2 hour drive to the next closest place to buy a console.

Yeah, I don\'t know that it means much either. Interesting though.

You should tell some people in my area about those consoles sitting on the shelves.  Just a couple days ago hundreds more people camped out for the second wave of 360\'s that came in.  At pretty much every EB, Best Buy, and Circuit City.

Just watch Ebay. Xbox 360\'s aren\'t fetching anything close ot what they were. Many of the people who were willing to wait for the system wanted to make a profit

Breakdown of the 360 launch titles (http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3145953&did=1)

Remember, 12/18 of them were ports, not exactly a great start.  PDZ, COD3, and PGR3 are basically the only ones that \'shine\' (ie, exclusive, next-gen content).  Someone mentioned gun... they didn\'t even upgrade the textures on that one, so yeah, higher res, but looks bad on HDTV.

For PS2, I remember seeing: Dynasty Warriors 2 (A favorite of mine still), SSX (I was never a big fan, but the series did well), Madden NFL 2001, Armored Core 2, DOA2, Summoner (the all important RPG, one of 4 at launch), Ridge Racer, Smuggler\'s Run.  Nothing to great on the list (http://archive.gamespy.com/articles/october00/ps2launch/index2.shtm) with the possible exception of DW2, but then again, the list had anough \'good\' games in every genre and niche to meet initial market demands.  I also remember that seeing those initial PS2 demos and games before release made me excited to be buying a console again.  They left PCs, the DC, and the PS1 in the dust.  That\'s what a new generation is supposed to do.  I\'m hoping the PS3 will do that, but only time will tell.  The 360 excited me for a few games, PDZ, for instance, but others I would rather play on PC (with keyboard/mouse).  With MS being so in bed with the PC market, I know that if I just wait, most good things on 360 will come (fable, halo).

Oh Jebus Bozco, you live in Ohio, what the hell else is there to do? :lmao: Okay, j/k sorry. Like I tried to say already, my neck of the woods had Xboxs aplenty too when there was almost no chance of finding one in a major US city. Though I do remember keeping an eye on ebay at the time, both GC and Xbox were selling right at retail plus shipping.

I was in the Bay Area last Saturday and saw no more than a half dozen folk lined up outside of a Best Buy about 4:00 PM for a shipment that was supposed to be there earlier that day. Not a lot of action for such a dense population considering how few consoles were released in the first shipment.

Could be the hype built up differently in each area I guess.  I\'m a camera rep inside a circuit city and all I hear is parents coming looking for the next available 360\'s.  Also, Ohio>Cali

As for SSX, it\'s still the best of them.  The untracked map on it was so tight.

Yeah, you read that one wrong, I really enjoyed the Summoner, and it is still one of my favorite RPG\'s. The Summoner was trying to move in a different direction then most Japanese styled RPG\'s and I really enjoyed that.

Besides playing  tekken Tag I more watched  movies on my ps2. I mean honestly the range of games were wack. Not of fan of TS did not like it at all. I can deal with SSX even though I fill the series gets boring it still has it\'s moments of pure fun.

But overall wack launch mimmicks 360 launch perfect. Thats sad to say because ps2 launch was like what 5 years ago.

Xbox lauch sucked.
DC launch rocked.
