Title: PlayStation 2 Purchase
Post by: aquariuas25 on November 29, 2005, 07:02:42 AM
I was wondering if any of you have heard about uniqueauction.com and if you have bid on anything from there. They have a Playstation 2, which I am looking to buy for the cost of $4.20.

Haven\'t heard of them. That no one knows of the site could explain the low price. Either that, or you\'re bidding on garbage.

If you want us to check it out, show us a link to the item..

Well the auction price is $4.20 so if you win the auction that is what you have to pay out but a bid for non members cost $2 and members $1. Wanted to know if anyone has tried it cause I think I am going to.

It\'s not too much money to lose even if it is a scam. Do it through Paypal so\'s they can\'t steal your entire account.

it costs a $1 per bid and you can only bid at  1 cent increments.  Easy to see how they are able to cap these auctions so low, they are raking in the money doing it this way.

plus, the item HAS to reach a certain number of bids before it reaches it\'s "reserve bid" price.  So they can set a PS2 to about 500 or something, make 500-1000 dollars on bids, and basically give it away.  If you bid, you are basically gambling that you will be the \'last\' guy, and get the PS2 for a couple bucks, and they are hoping someone else will come along and try the same.

This could soooo easily be a scam too, since they could have shill or program bidders winning every auction with a few seconds left, they would give out nothing and rake in the bid-fees.

well said.  Again uses common senses and remember the saying "if its too good to be true...then it\'s probably is."

Well. they have given away three previous XBox 360 for way cheaper prices so why not the PSP? I think I will try it. I used to be an eBay user but all of the bad things I have been hearing about them I stopped.  UniqueAuction is not a lottery

because a lottery is when you are bidding on chance and you get to see everyones bid along with the time remaining left of the auction

I can be that person who wants to wait until the last minute .

Business is business and of cours someone is always going to make money out of the process but I want the item at a cheaper cost so I really do not care what the business makes. You do not think that The Source, Best buy and all those other places make money off us gamers??

they do, but at we are willing to pay the retail store because if we don\'t want it, we can have the 30 days return/exchange warranty from date of purchase.  Also, they are retail store so i doubt they will sell us a lemon when we open the package.

It looks interesting but too similar to eBay (lookwise). If someone really wanted to pull a scam, they can take the source coding and slightly modify it. But who knows. They can just be trying to make a name for themselves by using such low bids.

Look through bid-history for past auction - every auction opens or already has a \'max\' bid already made and then other people bidding up to it, but \'only the first\' high-bid (so the max) wins the prize.  They don\'t close bidding when someone bids the max, but rather the price resets down below and people bid again.  Hello shill bidding, hello scam.  I already forwarded the site and some pertinent links to a couple of agencies.

You say they have sold other items for less than they\'re worth, but that\'s not something you know, and after you don\'t get your item for the 1, 2, 4, 8, 20 bucks you spend bidding on it, don\'t complain.

I wouldn\'t say taking a couple of seconds to type out a post telling you to fuck off and take your shit with you, equates to me spending so much of my attention on you.

in case you didn\'t notice, myself, and practically everyone else here is ridiculing you, or did you not pick up on that?

Oh, and perhaps, you should put those three heads together and aquire more verbs, nouns and adjectives to add to your vocabulary. You know swearing really doesn\'t become you.  I wish I could tell your mother about your potty mouth and she could wash it out with soap.
