linkitty linky-doo-dah (http://www.joystiq.com/entry/1234000550072216/)
linkiddy-ay - my oh, my, what a sad, and bad day.
Microsoft sent out a patch for backwards compatibility the other day which somehow disabled 16:9 support for halo2. Then in fixing that patch, the new patch can improperly install, rendering backwards compatibility dead all together on some systems. Ouch.

*swift kick to M$\'s little ballsack*
You guys suck. What a fiasco.

*shakes head*
So far I\'ve tried to play one Xbox 1 game. Tetris Worlds.
And I can\'t.
A system for backwards compatibility it isn\'t.
But Xbox Live Arcade is pretty cool. I grabbed a game off that and downloaded a demo of another one...

AT LEAST YOU PEOPLE HAVE XBOX360! STOP WHINGINGGGINGING LIKE A BUNCH OF BABIES!
-
what\'s the advantage to having it?
500$ tied up in empty promises?
-
This is just too funny. I guess they did not think this through before launch.

I think it\'s hilarious. I\'m all for competition, but MS really f\'ed up this whole launch. It\'s fun going to various Xbox boards and reading all the damage control. How many people on teamxbox are on the MS payroll?
A lot by the looks of it.

uhm that\'s why sony > microsoft....:fro:

http://www.360insider.net/articles/12-12-2005/xbox-360-not-designed-to-play-games-in-vertical-position/
I just had a revelation. The Xbox 360 “Ring of Light” logo pictured right could actually respresent the circular scratches left on Xbox 360 games across the world. When Matt’s Xbox 360 stopped playing games, a customer service rep told him to orient his console horizontally. The result? One working Xbox 360. The customer service rep apparently told him, here’s the shocker, that the Xbox 360 isn’t designed to play games vertically.
There are reportedly no stabilizers to allow for vertical play, or to stop discs from scratching when the console is vertical. Many of Matt’s discs got scratched despite the fact that he never moved his console while it was on. The kicker of the story is that Microsoft will not fix his Xbox to play games in the vertical position! Apparently there are no plans to add stabilizers to the DVD drive.
Now, I’m sure we’ve all had experience with uninformed telephone support people. Is that the case here, and Matt’s 360 is just an odd-ball? Or are we onto a bigger cover-up? I can’t imagine Microsoft can get any with saying the Xbox 360 wasn’t designed to play games in the vertical position. One look at their advertising would tell you the opposite. Maybe that guy filing a suit against Microsoft isn’t so crazy afterall.

not to mention their store kiosks (which they designed) have the xbox360 vertical? WFT

I\'d say it was a botched launch, by all means.. but certainly not the first.
I\'d go as far as to say that my steadfast opinion that X360 will "win" this generation is beginning to wane a little.
This shortage stuff is just killing me. I mean I\'m laughing, at my friends.. who pre-ordered in May and aren\'t getting one until January.

I wonder how much demand will drop off if people (parents, moderate gamers) don\'t get this by xmas. Lots of kids are going to ask for something else if their parents say they CAN\'T have one for xmas. Still, the console won\'t flop as big as others have in the past, but I think it will be the biggest flop when you look at the amount of press and attention it got (ie, the nomad or 32X flopped, but got little advertising and lead-up).

Botched launches are the hardest thing to come back from. Just ask Sega how they done after they screwed the Saturn launch up.

Spring is rapidly approaching and Nintendo and Sony are ready to compete with price and technology, respectively.
Microsoft\'s headstart is dissipating quickly...
The only chance at a break away lead is if Sony delays to November and Nintendo stays there. (I contend that a Spring launch for Nintendo is a rumor...)
