consider the format dead.
microsoft screwed the pooch with this one. they really should have delayed the launch 6 months/year, and included the HD-DVD drive. the launch games alone are hardly a leap in graphics evolution.
blu-ray (and PS3) will certainly crush any chance the 360 has.

Microsoft has cleared up speculation regarding possible HD-DVD functionality in future versions of the Xbox 360, saying that it currently has no plans to release an Xbox 360 equipped with a next-generation DVD player.
-
I say, let the format die and let me play my Xbox now. ;)
Blue Ray it is.
Or whatever.

Well considering Microsofts play in the HD-DVD format, this doesn\'t surprise me at all.
-
Yep. They threw their support and considerable weight behind the HD-DVD format... oh, no wait. They threw vocal support, and didn\'t back that up with any action behind the HD-DVD format.
Sony on the other hand is throwing everything it has at the Blu-ray format.
Really is a no brainer who\'s going to come out on top with that one.

isn\'t windows media 10 pretty much hd-dvd?
-
being able to display 1080p output does not make it HD-DVD

not really, HD-DVD is being designed by Toshiba/NEC.
Only thing MS has to do with the format is:
1) It\'s WMV-HD codec is one of three codecs available to studios
2) It\'s supporting HD-DVD simply because it\'s not blu-ray
If ms held off on the 360 maybe we\'d see an hd-dvd drive. but i\'m kinda glad they were hasty in this case. now BR is more likely to win out

ah....
do you think they\'ll ever have games for kids again? Seems like as these game systems become more intense, the games are becoming more and more for adults.
I understand why, just wondering if there will ever be a game again for kids around 4 years old.

If he tries smashing it until it brakes probably yeah.
-
that\'s what 4 year olds do
-
Not Nintendo\'s problem then ;)
-
it is when noone buys a game for thier 4 year old
-
what about 8 year olds and above?
-
Get them Game Boy Micro.
Built tough and cool enough to grow in to. And you could always hook them on the Pokemon shit. ;]

All i can say is that Rob Fahey dude from gamesindustry.biz has never written a positive article about Playstation
A very biased editor he is...
-
4 year olds don\'t throw crap around. At least mine doesn\'t. But then again, Logan has never done that. He\'s the fucking golden child with an extreme backhand thanks to the chizz.
-
You know, all this crap about 4 year olds playing with the Revolution\'s controller is purdy damn close to pedophelia. That thing is a fully functional vibrator you know.
-
speaking from experience?
-
yes, because I have a near-final, working prototype and I\'m the secret bastard child of Miyamoto Shigeru.
-
This pup is gunna crash and burn just like the Dreamcast once PS3 is released.
Yay for waiting!
-
Sony\'s confidence must seriously be raising right now.
-
It\'s a crying shame that Sony can get by this generation, due to MS being a complete dumbass and Nintendo not even really competing against them.

Hopefully they don\'t let down and come out swinging like a drunken Irishman.
Give em\' hell Sony.
