Did anyone see it yet? I plan to watch it tomorrow and will give you my opinion on it here. :)

Snape kills King Kong.

...on page 648.

Here\'s the illustrated version.

Saw it last night and I\'d have to say it was a pretty damn good movie, only knock on it is the length, kind of drug on like the last LOTR:
-
Go figure. I fear it might get uncomfortable. I hate theater seats.
But it still looks awesome to me. I recently watched the original and played through the game. I\'m ready to see the updated version.

\'Bout to go see it. Goin\' to sit thru it with a pregnant woman, wish me luck.
-
I\'ve just gotten home from watching it. I must say that it\'s very impressive, although a bit LOTR-esque in some places (not necessarily a bad thing). The T-rex fight scenes were awesome!
King Kong himself/itself is very well-made... quite a feat actually.
It is a long movie however... but worth it IMO. But if somehow the idea of a giant ape doesn\'t appeal to you, I\'d probably choose not to go see it. :)
For anyone else it\'s pretty much a must-see.
4/5

does HE SLING POO?
APES SLING POO.
ITS OFF DA HOOKZ!@
-
He slings people, they have pooh in side them! Kikng Kong and the all the creatures were amazing and all the green screen stuff was very impressive, one of the best movies I\'ve seen this year.

Especially after you have a lot of soda and for 2 hours it just brews in you. That happened at the Star Wars premier. I drank too much Mountain Dew and by the last fight scene I really had to go. Well, by the time the credits rolled, I was out the door. That was the most relieving pee I ever had to take :)
-
Hmm. Despite the badassness rep being thrown around, King Kong only managed to be #21 in Wednesday opening history. That\'s behind Pokemon... crazy Americans. :stick:

People are probably waiting for the weekend. Who has 3 hours on a worknight, ya know?
Hippies, that\'s who.

-
We\'s gotz the jobz.
-
I have to drive to the suburbs to see a movie, and that sucks on a WORKNIGHT.
The theatre 3 blocks from my house is on a bus route to the east side. I don\'t go to movies to hear cellphones and babies crying, or to see stabbings and fights. (unless the movie has stabbings & fights, then that\'s OK...)
-
Damn good film. Peter Jackson is the man. I actually felt bad for Kong, I had not felt that bad for a creature in a film since \'Old Yeller\'. I could of done without some of the talking at the very start of the film, but it all worked out. Damn good CG when it came to Kong (once again, Andy is the man).

Damn. If you felt that it deserved a double post, it really must be one hell of a film. :)
-
I gotta feeling this movie is gonna bomb. Who cares about Jack Black and a big fuckin\' ape anyway?
-
Movie was great. I really enjoyed it. Finally, a remake that surpasses the original King Kong Movie.
-
I rally want to see this movie. i\'m going our twiht a beszt fired on my 19th birthday so mayhbe ill de eitm
-
Ahaha. Damn, you\'re drunk.
-
going to see it tomorrow.
a few friends who saw it tonight said even tho they knew Kong was going to die that it was still an emotional scene.
I\'ve heard nothing but great things about this movie. Can\'t wait.

I don\'t even remember posting last night. It was my early 19th birthday (monday is my birthday) and a party at my college was thrown. For some reason I type a lot when I drink, like on AIM and here :)

Nothing is quite that dead.

Dead as a doornail?
I am going to see Kong this weekend. I\'m not sure though- I hate movies that are too long.
-
Define "too long".
Long for the sake of being long?
Long to develop story?
Please, define "too long".
-
Story takes too long to develop and conclude.
The third LOTR for example, even after everything is done (wars are won, ring destroyed, etc.) it continues to go on and and on and on and...
-
Well the third Lotr had to wrap up the other 2 movies.
-
So?
No excuse for me almost falling asleep...
-
You need an excuse?
How about this.
Short attention span.
-
Peter Jackson was in the right at the right time and that\'s why he\'s now able to make $200+ million dollar films left and right.
He\'s a good director, but the guy is clearly overrated. He can.. not.. edit..
-
I thought to tell the complete story that it was a good length for the movie, it developed all the characters well and told a complete story as opposed to not developing the characters and just using a lot of action scenes and cgi and shortening the movie would have sucked, it really drew you in and made you feel bad for Kong at the end.
-
Overrated?
The Frighteners?
Dead Alive?
Lotr?
King Kong?
Bad Taste?
WTTTTTTTTTTTTTFFFFFFF?
-
Bad editor? Peter Jackson?
LOTR is a huge task to edit considering it\'s a 48 hour movie from beginning to end. He had to edit the story that would flow perfectly for a movie version. Then he had to cut down further to make them under 3 and half hours, each.
He then had to move certain events in the book to earlier spot and some later to get a better flow in the movie.
With literally a billion LOTR fans expecting nothing less than perfect, I\'d say the majority feel Jackson edited the entire story just right.
Bad editor? Nononononono.
-
Dead-Alive has ass-horrible editing.
I never said he was a bad director, he is good.. just not in the class of any of my favorite directors. Not yet, anyway.
-
Alright.. I just can\'t believe you bad mouthed Dead-Alive.
You ....well...You....you....you\'re....a..uhm..
POOPIE HEAD!
-
I just saw this movie last night. It was pretty damn cool except that really corny ass part where [sp]King Kong and the girl were playing on the fucking ice. GHEY!![/sp]
And the ending dragged on for way too damn long.
[sp]The scene where King Kong takes on 3 T-Rex\'s was pretty damn cool. Especially where he rips open the jaws of one, and then starts playing with the mouth.[/sp]
Some parts of the movie I could have completely done without.
No excuse for me almost falling asleep...
Maybe you shouldn\'t smoke weed before going to movies.
-

Man, I really hope this doesn\'t start being a Jackson trademark.
-
Oh...
It will.
-
I don\'t think it dragged on. Yes, the airplane scene was a bit long, but the rest was needed. The ice scene rocked, damnit.
-
Yes, the airplane scene was a bit long
That\'s the part I was referring to.
-
It still wasn\'t that bad. If anything, I\'d complain about the stampede scene.
-
That scene was funny as hell. I still enjoyed the movie as a whole.
-
Funny?
It had poor CGI and ruined pace. Not to mention Brody drop kickin\' a Raptor was cheesey. It was something I would expect from a piss-poor sub-standard action film.
-
How is what I said correlated with the CGI?
And yes...there were quite a few cheesy parts in the movie. Then again...you\'re negative about every movie that comes out, it seems.
-
Right - that\'s why I have done nothing but praise this movie, \'cept for one part and that was the piss-poor CGI in the stampede scene. And the fact that it simply did not fit in with the rest of the film.
Ohhhhhhh..Shame on me for pointing something out.
-
The focus of the dinos seemed quite off, which threw the perspective out of whack. The cliff breaking scene looked really fake.
And the fact that it simply did not fit in with the rest of the film.
I agree with you there. It seemed out of place.
-
Jack Black out runs Raptor? Check!
Brody drop kicks a Raptor? Check!
Green screen painfully obvious? Check!
CGI below standard for Weta? Check!
....The scene sucked. It\'s my only complaint for the film, really.
-
I don\'t have that many complaints...but I know what you mean on all those points. I just think they should have ended the last scene a bit sooner. I was almost wishing he would just freaking fall off already. I still think it was very enjoyable, nonetheless.
-
i am looking forward to seeing this movie
-
Saw it, thought it was amazing.

Thank god someone else saw this. I became quite annoyed watching that scene though the movie was still pretty good. It\'s just during a lot of the CGI they didn\'t even seem scared by the different creatures attacking them and the other cheesy parts you named.
-
saw it... sat there for the first 2 hours thinking....... craptastic film.
Wanted my monkey eh money back at the end.
-
That was one sneaky ass plane in the end....I couldn\'t help but laugh at that part.
-
[sp]
I laughed when kong started to fall, thought that was pretty funny, image all the people below thinking "damn, thats one big monkey falling at us" [/sp] well it amused me anyway.
-
That\'s because you are easily amused.
;)
-
While playing pong tonight some friends and I realized something. How the fuck did they get King Kong from the island to the mainland? I mean the squads of men that appeared when they captured him after almost all seemed dead wasn\'t too bad but him just appearing there is hilarious. I\'m sure all the guys just carried a passed out king kong onto the boat.
-
That\'s a homage to the original. The original never explained how he was transported and P.Jackson has always said that this is one of the best cuts in film history, due to the fact, most people never question it or when they do, it\'s far to late in the movie to ask "why".
-
Well atleast that makes sense
-
Saw Chronicle\'s of Narnia and that it was a pretty good movie. Kong I would actually watch again.
-
Finally saw Kong. Having just seen the original it was cool to see a couple of call backs to the old script.
When they were filming Ann on the boat and doing some script about how it wasn\'t a woman\'s place to be on the ship, that was an exact bit of dialog from the original. Only that bit of bad acting in the original wasn\'t part of Denham\'s movie, it was just dialog on the ship between Ann and Jack.
Was there any chance that Peter Jackson was in one of the planes at the end? They did that in the first one, too.
But I liked it. Some of the CGI was off, but compared to the suspension of reality needed to buy into the original, this film was the real deal.
The 3 hours went by quick and the insects were disgusting, heh.

...
Best nod to the original..
"What about Fay?"
Great quote.
It\'s been forever since I seen the original, so I picked it up yesterday on DVD, will watch it with little tykes later tonight.
-
Yeah I remember that too, LIC.
It was so fast I almost missed it. Pretty neat.
