Hi guys. A friend of me gave me two old pictures to fix and re-imprint. However I\'ve found a problem with the second one. The paper used (1967) has some kind of spots that once scanned produce the effect that you can see in the image. I\'ve tried every de-interlace option in photoshop, with no result.
Can you help me to remove that shit? I would really appreciate your help.
Let me post the original-size picture since it will be easier to edit and deal with the effect. Thanx in advance.

yea those honeycombs will be a b!tch to take out, if not impossible. That photo paper is no good.
wish i could help :(
-
I assume you used a scanner, right ?
Hmm, maybe goto a good copy shop and let them make a quality copy on copy machine. These work differently than pc scanners. Might do the trick.
Then you can scan in the copy (assuming it\'s the desired result) and photo print from that.
-
Yes I used a home scanner... I hoped any of you gurus of photoshop could take out that effect......... samwise? :(
-
Even it was removed, it\'d be tedious and look bad in the end.
-
Hey Adan. I\'d love to help you out, but I\'m not at home and won\'t be for another week. I might take a shot at it when I get back, but as I said, it\'ll be a while. :)
-
Ok, sammy, i\'ll wait. Thanx a lot.
Blade, once the effect is removed, I will improve the picture: sharpening, tones, bugs, etc.
-
have it rescanned
shopping that image will look like ass regardless of time invested
-
YEah. It needs to be scanned better. That would be horrible.
-
Seed_of_Evil: What mm said.
Technically you could invest a lot more time and get it pretty close to "normal"... but why not just see if it can be rescanned? Less alteration of the source image and far less time spent.
-
There is no way to scan it better. The problem is the paper used, not the scanner quality or the method used. There may be any way to remove that shit :(
-
That would be an extremely tedious and impossible task to remove all that honeycomb crap. Are you sure there is no other method of getting that pic on your comp?
-
Take a picture of it.

Not true. If you look carefully, you\'ll notice that the honeycomb indentations are casting tiny shadows. If you illuminate the print evenly from all directions using studio lighting, you can greatly diminish the shadows or eliminate them. This cannot be done with a normal consumer scanner, which always projects light from one direction. You need some studio lighting equipment and a good digital camera to photograph the print. Good luck.

I see... It seems I will never get a good digital copy of this picture here in spain :( Thx

Maybe you could use Maya?
-
Don\'t tease the boy ;)
-
AHAHA OOOOH thats horrible
-
Why don\'t you soak the picture in bleach and when it drys scan it again. Picture quality should almost be perfect. The bleach will help distort the light effects of the scanner.

Hi Adan, sorry I forgot about this thread. I\'ve taken a crack at it. Let me know what you think (I tweaked the image a bit as well and removed some of the obvious flaws). But if you want just the basic image I can give that to you as well.

OMG ! This thread is more ancient than the photo !
-
Wow I hope that\'s in time for him to appreciate the work you put into that.
What an improvement.

Yeah...that\'s definitely a big improvement.
-
Thx a lot Sammy, I do appreciate your nice work on the picture, excellent indeed, but someone in other forums helped with similar results long ago. There are a lot of gurus out there in this field of PC.
Thank you very much and congratulations on the results you obtained. I\'ll save it as well.
Cheers, Mike.
