Title: College Advice
Post by: Viper_Fujax on January 03, 2006, 01:52:27 PM
This is the only forums i go to so..just looking for advice.

I kind of slept on my major because of break, and registration for classes already began yesterday. So i have to change mine so i can pick the right classes (their system makes u pick certain classes that only go to your major).

Anyway, the only things i could see myself getting into is game development, and something football related (stats, players, news, etc). The problem with the football thing is that im pretty bad at speaking, so im not sure if "Communications" is the right major for me..or if that would fall under communications.

I PM\'ed Knotter about game development, but im not 100% sure about it. If he didnt like the hours and that was probably his first choice, than i kind of doubt that I will make it since i am thinking about it because im changing my major.

so what would i major in for something football related? or game development (i cant even find the major that would have game development..except computer science er something)?

Most colleges arent going to have a game devolopment degree. You would have to go Computer Science.

Yep.  You need to be in Physical Therapy or something like that for Football.  And I\'d suggest learning how to code as well for computers.

Indeed, all the reasearch I\'ve done into game development pointed towards programming as a great thing to learn.

Alas, I tried it, and hated it.

How about Sports Management as a major?  You can go a lot of routes from there.

My roommate\'s brother majored in computer science and he got to take a class in which all he did was review video games. Seems like CS is the way to go if you are geared to that sort of thing.

Programming is b!tch to learn at first, but you can really get creative when writing your own code & scripts from scratch.

Force yourself to learn it if you\'re really interested in game development, meaning take a CS 110+ class.  I don\'t think anyone is a programmer because they loved it from the get-go.  It\'s something they worked hard at and once they learned the in\'s & out\'s, they saw how it all works.  Sorta like ne0 and the matrix ;>

I guess that makes me a nerd. I loved being able to make my own shit right from the get go. My first real program was a stupid piano thing that used the PC speakers for sound and they keyboard for keys. ^_^_^_^
