Reading about our VP\'s recent fragfest rekindled an ongoing debate in me: is Cheney setting a double-standard by holding a hunting license while being anti-abortion? How can he claim to be pro-life and then proceed to get a thrill from killing animals?
-
Um. That\'s two completely different things. Troll.

They are completely different. Humans are higher up on the food chain than a pheasant :p

Enlighten me. According to Genesis, God gave man dominion over all animals. Fair enough. But many pro-lifers claim that not even an embryo, let alone a fetus, should be sacrificed because all life is precious. I\'m genuinely confused as to how people so vehemently protect a single cell yet so freely kill fully developed animals. Granted, that cell will develop into a fully fledged human being. But if all life is precious, what justice lies in killing an animal not for food, but for the thrill of the kill?
But that\'s just me.

all human life + pet life is precious.. maybe whales. stupid, non-endagered birds need to make their own weapons if they want to live.
-
human life is infinitely more valuable than a damn bird
you are wasting your time comparing the two

You lost me on the second sentence.

Exactly. God (assuming he even exists) gave us rule over animals. Therefore we can shoot them :)

But from that perspective, how are human beings endangered? A baby is born every second. Why start a row over the life of one more?
I reiterate: hunting for food is perfectly fine. I\'m guilty of that - I eat meat every day. However, hunting (for phesants, deer , or a tiger) for hunting\'s sake then turning around to say "all life is precious" seems contradictory.

wow
endangered= point of being extinct. Non-endangered animals have time to evolve some more, so he was making a joke that they should develop shooting talons in a million years..or maybe a steel chest..was a JOKE.
and i have no idea where the humans being endangered comes in..the weakest/dumbest do die (darwin awards), but in our age theres a lot more outside factors that kills/lets people live..and im pretty sure the area darwin didnt cover was incidental deaths that dont really have anything to do with survival of the fittest.
Ill try not to respond to the next post..or topics.

Right. His stance was that birds are not endangered, so we can shoot them. My stance is that since human beings are also not endangered, what great loss is one baby? Of course, I don\'t condone the killing of any human beings. Just looking at this from different perspectives.

before this gets (even more) ugly
