*This thread is to boost my ego if nothing else, plus talking about people behind their back is fun
So I finally moved into a new place and found out my neighbor is a Joe 6-pack.
He tried to brag that he was gonna watch the superbowl on his 42" Plasma. I could have said \'that\'s nice, can you help me move this 92" screen for my digital projector, oh and give my brother a hand with his 50" 1080P SXRD.\' But nah, I said, wow, that\'s cool! like any good humble neighbor would.
Later in the week he invited us into his "theater", he really wanted to show this piece off. He also said on the way in (and here\'s the kicker) "I want to show you what the BOSE Lifestyle system can do." I looked at my roomie and just rolled my eyes all the way to the back of my head.
So we get to his theater room, which is small, barebones, and boring. The plasma turns out to be a Philips, one of the worst choices I might add, with an ugly black cable shroud hanging loosly against the wall going towards the BOSE all-in-one POS.
So made us watch the first 5 minutes of LOTR, regular edition.
- Looked like shit
- Sounded like shit
- He was all proud
- Wanted to barf

Yea if I told him Bose uses paper cone drivers, which you can purchase online for $25 a pop, and his display looked like a cat vomited on glass, I\'d be a jerk neighbor. And in the end, that\'s worse than a Joe 6-Pack.
CLIFFS: I\'m awesome while my neighbor sucks.

Few magazines are now willing to give honest reviews of Bose products due to a Consumer Reports review a few years back that gave the AM-15 embarrassingly bad ratings (score of 62 out of 100). Consumer Reports allegedly used a double-blind comparison test, which is in fact the ideal way to compare speakers. That particular review ended up in a lawsuit over "unscientific testing methods". Thankfully, Bose lost that lawsuit, but since then, Consumer Reports and various other magazines give neutral-to-rave reviews that tip-toe around the actual sound quality and focus more on ergonomics and style. More prestigious publications like Fi and What HiFi? ignore Bose products completely.

The Bose system in my truck sounds OK. I wouldn\'t have put it on the brouchure, though. ;)
