Woooo... Dell eats up more competition and will actually sell computers with AMD processors in it now!
Dell Buys Alienware (http://reviews.cnet.com/4531-10921_7-6464030.html)
-
argh. dont really care for either company but i don\'t like the idea of dell getting even bigger :\\
it should be funny to see a fanboy gamer that dropped 5 grand for an alienware be connected to dell tech support c/o habeeb
-
So, will Alienware brand the Dell symbol or are they still kinda separate wtih their builds?
-
My guess is that Dell will phase out their XPS line, and use Alienware exclusively as their high-end gaming machines.
-
Um...no? That\'s the last company I\'d want buying Alienware...
-
I like Dell personally. I love my laptop I gor from them (the Inspiron 9300). Its a big mother though. But its good for me. I don\'t like small laptops as my primary computer. I like the big screen though :) The only downfall was trying to find a case for it. I could only find one backpack that fit its size (i wanted a backpack anyway) and it was expensive.

In other news.........
Dell buys a worthless company and sells "high-end" machines to idiots who want a fancy case..............

Dell DENIES buy-out rumor. (http://www.hardocp.com/news.html?news=MTc2MjEsTWFyY2ggICAgLDIwMDYsaGVudGh1c2lhc3Q=)
That\'s good, that Alienware doesn\'t sell out. Then again, anyone who needs a high end computer should invest the time to learn to build one, and do it themselves... faster and cheaper.
OH yeah...
The Dell XPS (http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=OTI0LDgsLGhjb25zdW1lcg==) systems come with an incredible amount of bloatware, and run like shit. They have low build quality, non removable pre installed crap, and don\'t come with the Windows you paid for. Never, ever buy a Dell.
-
Ugh, I hate Dell. My girlfriend got a Dell laptop and has had nothing but trouble with it. It came with a faulty screen and is just really poorly built. And god is their customer support ever awful.
-
People either have Powerbooks or Dell laptops here at my school. The Macs make the dells look and feel like clunky bricks.
-
I\'d be happy if Dell DIDN\'T nab Alienware, but it\'s looking inevitable.

Image sells, baby. Hence why I hate MTV with a passion. Image is everything in America. You could bowtie shit and it\'ll sell.

dell already sells "high end" machines
alienware machines are quite nice, don\'t hate cause you can\'t afford one

Because you have a funny non-Indian accent. Remember to speak with a curled tongue, purse your lips and accentuate the P\'s and L\'s. Also the D\'s are to be mixed with T\'s while B\'s and P\'s should be mixed together.
I BPoughDT a llllllappppp DToppppp and I wanTD a DTiscounTD.

Well they\'re still independant, so that\'s good.

The latest twist to the story (http://www.joystiq.com/2006/03/22/dell-confirms-alienware-purchase/)
After denying the rumors that first started circulating a couple weeks ago, Dell has finally confirmed that they\'ve acquired high-end gaming rig manufacturer Alienware for an undisclosed amount.
When suits are making such acquisition decisions, they often start with a "make or buy" investigation. One can assume that whenever the decision to "buy" (that is, acquire an external company) has been made, said suits determined that the acquisition target offered something that they couldn\'t "make" on their own for the right price and within the right time frame.
Oh hell, we\'ll stop beating around the bush: Dell purchased Alienware because Dell has repeatedly failed to build credibility in the high-end PC gaming market. Few Joystiq readers associate the Dell name with gaming performance, and that\'s exactly why Dell had to acquire an outside company.
So it looks like the denial was made, but false because the deal wasn\'t final (and I assume that there was some stock buying/selling going on and they wanted to prices to hold for a few more days). Now its confirmed. Dell buys Alienware. Oh well, I guess another small independant will have to startup and make high end computers... I know I\'ve thought about entering that market a few times in the last few years...
