Title: so i was looking for my N64 last night
Post by: mm on March 20, 2006, 12:04:16 PM
i was suddenly fiending to hurl red turtle shells at luigi in mariokart
granted, the game isn\'t the same without 3 buddies and a case of beer

anyways, for some odd reason, i\'ve been having withdrawls from Zelda:Ocarina of Time.

i never finished it, i got to the water temple back in the day, and stopped out of disgust.  well now, i have to do it.  something is wrong with me....

instead of playing the N64 version, did the GC version have any improvements?
and did it come with Windwaker?

Must be something in the atmosphere.  My cousin made me dig up mine last week so she could play kart again too... and I ended up playin\' some goldeneye again.

No improvements.
Did not come with Windwaker, it along with Majora\'s Mask and other Zelda games was offered a bonus disc if you subscribed to Nintendo Power.

P.S - Water Temple = the suck.

Coincidentally, I just started a game on Majora\'s Mask.

It\'s the one EAD Zelda game I have not beaten. I bought it when it came out and couldn\'t wrap my mind around the clock "gimmick." Now I\'m enjoying it.

The bonus disc did have a remixed version with different enemies or something. I didn\'t really bother with that, personally...

It was supposed to be a little more difficult I think.  I didn\'t really play through it either.  I\'d stick with the original.

I played the GC version with my ex a lot. I kicked her ass and I got none those nights, lol. But we play the N64 version all the time here in my dorm. Me and my suitemates will play it while we\'re drunk and its a good old time :)

The GC version of TOoT is supposed to have a tad bit cleaner textures, mainly because you can use a component connection now, along with progressive scan.

I pre-ordered WW and got the bonus disc.  There should be several floating around on ebay and the like.

I never beat Ocarina of Time. The only Zelda game I played before that was the gold cartridge Zelda on the 8-bit NES. I miss those days. :(

The best Zelda IMHO is SNES\' Link to the Past. Followed by OoT.

TWW clearly has the most polished gameplay, but it\'s too short.

The GC version of Mario Kart is significantly more difficult in the 150cc level. The computers, including you, continue to fire or leave obstacles along the way and they do take a while to disappear. And the nemesis rarely ever gets knocked back to 3rd place so finishing 1st is crucial.

I forgot the bonus disc had Majora\'s Mask. I never played that.  That\'s kind of tempting.

I\'ve played through four Zeldas myself. The original, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker and Link\'s Awakening (played it on tv with the SNES Super Game Boy).

Least, I think I played through the first one.

I got stuck in Link to the Past shortly after you enter the dark world. Never finished that one..

As for Mario Kart, I kicked the hell out of Double Dash on the GCN, but I fired that up a couple times lately and got beat both times. The controls are really floaty and I think there\'s a big difference between cars and characters.

Those same people, though, I woulda kicked their ass in MK:DS. ;]
