Title: how to clean my controller?!
Post by: kopking on March 27, 2006, 11:44:58 PM
i was playing my com round a mates house the other night, and while i played i spilt some beer on the controller. i wiped it away and carried on to play like usual.

after a few days my buttons dont pop back so quickly...... is there anythign you can think of to make the button work faster, and get rid of the sticky dry alcohol?

Or maybe quit jerking off and gettin\' stuff in the button. That\'s what I do with my keyboards.

Actually, the alcohol is gone, as it evaporated leaving the sticky barley/hops/malt.

I would use pure alcohol (as pure as you can buy), and use that to dissolve what\'s under the buttons, it will evaporate, and you can try and make that thicker stuff dry near the heel of the pad.  Obviously when you are doing this, power is off, and let it dry completely afterwards.

have you tried shitting on a cat, then using the cat as a sort of polishing brush?

You can open it too. I would try the alcohol first before you open it. I\'ve opened controllers before and they never worked again...so yeah. I\'d try the alcohol :)

Don\'t forget to chug the leftovers soon after.

Seriouslly though, you can use a very, very lightly damped cloth and some compressed air.

pull it apart and clean everything with straight alcohol.   Make sure its dry. Then put it back together and away you go.

If you open it up, it\'s fairly well packaged, but don\'t let any of the inner parts open up (and don\'t pry apart the boards).
