Title: iPod Question
Post by: videoholic on April 15, 2006, 05:16:56 PM
Probably not the best place to ask this, but I am real tired and I am already here.

My iPod is sync\'d to my desktop.  I have it sync\'d so while I am listening to music I can rate it and then delete the 1 stars when I get home.

So here\'s my question.  Why the fuck can\'t I listen to my iPod through my laptop computer?

Seems like I should be able to use my iPod as a source, but since it\'s sync\'d to my desktop it won\'t let me even listen to the files.  So I have to just plug my iPod in to charge and just run the iPod without iTunes.

But I just think that\'s stupid.

This part confused me right here.  Rate a song then delete the 1 stars ?_?

FWIW, I just leave the syncing off and you can use the ipod as a source.  But I guess you already knew that.. hopefully someone can chime in with some help.

Well I captured a lot of CDs.  A lot of the songs I don\'t care, but it was easier to capture a whole CD than to itemize.  Well now I just rate one star the ones I want to delete since you can\'t delete from the ipod.

And yeah, I know I can just not sync it, but it\'s easier to just have it sync\'d.  I just wanted to make sure I wasn\'t doing something wrong.

It\'s part of their anti-piracy crap.  Basically, you can only play it off the computer it\'s linked to.  There might be some software you can find online to get around that though, if you look enough.

Yeah, the only way I can do it with mine is to turn on manual update.
