indeed.

at least the draft is next saturday. cant believe the broncos let their 22nd overall pick go for a second and third round pick to the niners. Granted, its nice to have 4 picks on the first day, but two first round picks wouldve been awesome. Now they only have one.

o right..this threads about basketball..go mugsy bogues.

Detrot is gonna win it.

Detroit = overhyped

Sure they have an amazing record, but they should. They played shitty eastern teams all year except till the end. They brought back the same team and had no injuries all year. I also have a theory as to why their dominance slowed down at the the end. I believe that since all these eastern teams had major role changes with players, it took them a long time to get them to get used to their style of play while the Detroit came out with 100% chemistry. That could explain how New Jersey came out and jsut started walloping people at the end and Orlando too.

Now Im not going to take their greatness away because they played at championship level all year. They kicked the spurs ass twice. Im just saying dont judge them by their record.

WOW!!!  The Spurs show signs of weakness in the 4th quarter...

I didn\'t watch the whole game, but man that Ginobili fumble was inexcusable.
Title: NBA Playoffs \'06
Post by: Halberto on May 13, 2006, 07:55:04 PM
What the fuck are you talking about? Shooting over 75% is a sign of weakness? What\'s weak is how many bullshit calls Dirk Nowitzki got. I wont blame the loss on the refs, but it was entirely one sided. If anything it showed that the Spurs are coming together and Manu Ginobli as well. The Spurs owned the mavs the fourth quarter, but the free throws hurt them.

Don\'t panic Halberto.  :)  All the Spurs have to do is become the 9th team in NBA history to come back from a 3-1 series deficit.  No problem, right?    Sure, no problem.  I should know, because the Suns just did it.

I\'m not looking forward to Phoenix playing Dallas in the next round.  The Suns seem to have "the eye of the kitty cat" right now instead of "the eye of the tiger."  Mavs are looking terrifying.  They will crush whoever comes out of the East.

witnesses to bullshit.  "Lebron dribbles up, (insert name) sets pick, Lebron uses off hand to push into the lane, and the pistons dont play defense."

someone needs to tell these kids to wear their hearts on their sleeves and stop throwing away one of the best seasons of basketball i\'ve ever seen.

This has got to be one of the best playoffs ever. Who would have ever thought both the Spurs and the Pistons would be down 3-2...
Title: NBA Playoffs \'06
Post by: Coredweller on May 18, 2006, 09:38:34 AM
The Suns have maybe the best opportunity they have EVER had to roll to a championship...

Lakers > Clippers > Mavericks > Heat / Cavaliers

... during the ONE year they don\'t have the line up to capitalize on it!!!!  Stoudemire out, Kurt Thomas out, Steve Nash exhausted with a worn-out back, etc.  This is really frustrating.  I am constantly amazed they have made it this far.  Only in a screwed up playoff season like this can the CLIPPERS look like superstars.  Something is really wrong somewhere.

What\'s your point?  You stated the obvious.

Post by: QuDDus on May 18, 2006, 12:35:53 PM
I am not throwing in the towel on detroit. They can and should be able to come back from a team like cavs. I am not taking anything from the cavs because they are playing with their heart on the court. But I feel the pistons have all the right players to come back and win. The pistons are not relying on their defense to win them games. They better remember they are not the suns they can\'t out score the other team and win the ball game. Their defense is what gave them the best record this season. Go back to basics.

As for the spurs I hope they lose and with a 3-2 lead I do not see dallas losing the next two games to the spurs. Go home Tim Duncan we hate you.

Post by: Coredweller on May 18, 2006, 01:02:35 PM
Detroit beat the Suns twice; 111-104 on November 10th, and 109-102 on April 2nd, so they have the ability to score with Chauncy Billups etc... but maybe only when playing against a sleepy defense. I agree, normally defense is the boring secret to their success.

Yeah they won terry will be back for sundays games. And lets all hope that the spurs finally go down. For Dallas to win on the spurs home court and rub it in their faces would be awesome. I hate tim duncan the spurs and the entire organization. I hope that david robinson is in the audience on game 7 and a tear in his eye on spurs lost would be orgasmic.

Monday will be the biggest night of the year for NBA basketball.  Two gigantic game 7s back to back.  Even though I hate certain individuals on BOTH the Spurs & the Mavericks, I hope the Spurs win.  I want my team to have another crack at them, even if it\'s without Amare Stoudemire.

Ginobili, say hello to my little friend.  His name is Raja Bell.

OK, first we gotta take care of business.  :)

No kidding.  A Detroit Pistons game = snoozetime.  Whenever I happen to switch past a Pistons game, I can\'t believe how excruciatingly slow they play.

Usually when they\'re playing another Eastern Conference team, if either team gets more than 4 points behind with 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter, you can forget about them coming from behind for the win.  It takes 10 minutes to accomplish a 6 point swing in that playing style.

Halberto:  You should have recovered by now, so it\'s time to come out of hiding and confront a couple of easy questions.  :)

The Spurs were eliminated but it was a very close series, so you should take some comfort in that.  If I were you, I would blame Ginobili.  His failures on two key plays in games 5 and 7 resulted in those two losses.  I\'m sure you know what I\'m referring to.  TRADE HIM SOON, and package Robert Horry in the deal.  I\'m sure you can get some good value out of them, and you\'ll shed a serious image problem your team has developed.

Now the big question:  Do you support the PHOENIX SUNS against the Dallas Mavericks?  It\'s only right, given the circumstances.  That\'s all I\'m gonna say.

Hahaha yes im finally done fuming about it, but I got my head shaved in a bet I made.

To answer your questions:

1) Yes! I do blame Manu Ginobili, but for game 7 only. I don\'t like to blame players for a missed shot or bad pass, but fouling on that last play was the most idiotic thing he could do. The whole strategy of that last play was DO NOT FOUL NO MATTER WHAT LET THEM SCORE IF THEY WANT TO. But he tried to be a hero and block the shot. I wouldn\'t trade him, because I feel that he is more beneficial in the long run, but I lost my faith in his final plays.

2) If it weren\'t for the arrogant and classless fans and players, I would be rooting for the team that beat mine. But because of Mark Cuban, Jason Terry and all the idiotic fans of the mavericks I hope the Suns crush their confidence and take game 2 to make the big D make one huge gulping noise. I tried to tell all the Mavs fans that their advantage of speed and athleticism (which is why I believe the Spurs lost, because they were too slow) will be matched or surpassed by the Suns. Also, I feel that Raja Bell could have put a dent in the Mav\'s role players but he got hurt and it seems to be pretty bad. So, all I have to say is PHOENIX SUNS NBA CHAMPIONS 06\'

...all I have to say is PHOENIX SUNS NBA CHAMPIONS 06\'

HELL YEAH! In case anyone is not aware, with a victory over the Mavericks in game 1, the Phoenix Suns just EQUALED their 2005 playoff performance. Last year, they only won one game against the Spurs. They will certainly exceed that performance this year, because there is no way in hell the Mavericks will win 4 straight against the Suns, with two of those games in Phoenix. All this is occuring in a playoff season without Amare Stoudemire, Kurt Thomas, and now Raja Bell. Counting the regular season, the Suns have now won three straight games against the Mavericks, beginning on March 5, 2006.

We are three wins away from the Finals. If we make it to the Finals, it will be only the third time in franchise history. Last time, Kevin Johnson and Charles Barkley were defeated by Michael Jordan\'s Chicago Bulls in 1993 Finals in 6 games.

First of all check yourself. I don\'t hate the spurs just because they win. I have hated the spurs ever since david robinson got on that team. And they went through years of losing before they won a championship. So it isn\'t like I just started hating the spurs. I have years on SA hate in my blood kid.
