Um...a blog?

hmm, if that\'s the case. Hopefully they can manage to decrease the size of the power supply and put it in the box instead of external.

 at anyone who currently owns a xbox 360
grats on paying 500$+ to beta test

^^ no kidding.
lame.
It does seem like a pretty transparent change tho. No real benefit for the consumer, but a savings for Microsoft. So I suppose it\'s not big thing.

NExt year..
Big whoop. WHo didn\'t think they were going to lower their price when the PS3 comes out.

It is uncommon for manufacturers to increase the speed of chips in games consoles which are already on the market, because this can cause unexpected compatibility issues with games developed for the original hardware design, as well as bad feeling among existing owners.
Uncommon? Unheard of. The closest I can think of would be the expansion for the N64... and even that\'s not the same. You introduce a new chip which enhances current games, makes (any) older games incompatible, and is a must-own for certain newer titles and you will kiss any brand loyalty you have left goodbye. There\'s a reason the console cycles are up to 6-7 years, and that\'s cause consumers don\'t want to be replacing their stuff every year.
