Hi. I was just wondering if there\'s a way I can make my usb stick act as a memory card on playstation 2. Thanks!

Similarly, I tried to fit a USB memory stick into the USB port on my PSP to no success. Is there some fundamental USB thing that I don\'t know?

You can use the memory keys for the USB port for GT4 but only to save pictures :) I dunno if USB memory keys were invented yet when the PS2 came out. Something someone should wikipedia ;)

you can\'t use them, because otherwise they wouldn\'t be able to make money off of their memory cards!

Something I really agree on.  Its quite true.  Unlike computer where it was more flexible, current videogames are strict that you can only save your games on memory cards and cannot save or open files anywhere else beside the memory cards.

Hopefully PS3 is more flexible where you can save your games it on the hard disk drive, memory card, and usb connections too...just like the computer...because PS3 is trying to expand the internet and online gaming.

And just like the computer flexibility, hopefully you can download patches for games, download video, etc...but this is a ps3 we are talking about...

An option you have is to get a codebreaker, which will allow you to backup saves on a Thumbdrive.

But were USB memory keys invented at the time PS2 was released or even developed? The first USB memory key I\'ve seen personally was when I was a Junior in high school.

I remember first seeing USB back in 97/98 where my uncle bought me a computer that have USB 1.1 ports.  Now, USB 2 is the norm.

Yeah, I did a wikipedia search right after I posted. Didn\'t feel like editing. They didn\'t get into widespread use most likely until after PS2 was out. But yeah, they make more money off memory cards. The memory stick duo I think is made and developed by Sony so they still get money from that too.
