* A pricetag of $249 for Nintendo Wii “seems appropriate”.
* Console is always online - always online, even when off.
* Built-in speaker - On the controller - See below for more details.
* No improved graphics on Virtual Console - As in, they aren’t redoing the models, doesn’t talk about framerates and such.
* TG16 will have it’s 1st party games out at launch - 3rd party will come later as demand increases.
* Estimated prices for the Virtual Console download service are “a few dollars for NES, $5 for SNES and $10 for N64″.
* More Third Party Exclusives than Gamecube.
* As for first party games: In Zelda: Twilight Princess there will be no swinging the controller for the sword all the time, you just press a button. There are some cases where you will swing though - You’d get too tired too fast otherwise.
Controller secret details: “The controller will contain a small amount of memory, which can be written to by the console (via Bluetooth) during the game. This will usually be used to store small sound files which can be heard via the controller’s small internal speaker. In demonstrations this system could be used, for example, to simulated the sound of gun shots coming from the controller when fired; when you put this together with the force feedback, it creates a game experience which surpasses anything we have been able to create before.
In other experiments we created a simple “Chinese whisper” style communication game which one player could whisper into the controller (we were even able to be in another room when doing this) and then the sound would be sent via the console to another player’s controller which they could then hear. Great fun!” I reckon that confirms a Microphone as well.

I want it, now. I think Nintendo is on the path to a huge comeback. The only critique I have is the price as I was hoping for $199.
On a related note, 360 just keeps looking better, no? HD games for $50 more, or by the time the Wii comes out MS could have a price drop (not that they need to).

 at whispering into the controller

is that per title?
-
That would be per title.
Sign me up.
-
I thought they were free.
Oh well. Stick with my emulators and roms then
-
I want Chrono Trigger. :)
I also dig that they put a speaker in the controller, and included force feedback. But I still don\'t enjoy talking into games unless I\'m totally alone, and even then, not so much.
That feeling of self-consciousness TOTALLY kills the immersion of a game for me.
Also, it turns out the Wii controller has a bigger storage capacity than the $500 core PS3\'s memory sticks. ;]

Looking at the Nintendo pressconference now. It\'s very good. Red Steel demonstration was awesome.
-
10$ per title, and you mock the PS3 price tag?
what kind of sucker are you?
guess you never heard of/played the \'sega channel\'

link? :)

I will pay $5 for Chrono Trigger if I can.
I will not pay $10 for N64, but will pay $5 for Genesis and Turbo-Grafx16 games.
Except for N64, I think the pricing is right on.
Though, maybe you support piracy now that Nintendo is offering an alternative to emulation?

There is no relation here.
$10 dollars for a select title I want...Your point? Or better yet, $5 dollars for games like Chrono Trigger, Zelda and Yoshi\'s Island. Sounds great to me. I agree with Eik, other than the N64 titles, the price range is right on.
$500 - 600 for a system that doesn\'t have anything I want?
And yes, I know abuot \'Sega Channel\'. It still doesn\'t change anything.
Oh and to that person who said roms and emulators..
You\'re a gay pirate.
-
you still don\'t have chrono trigger or the "select" games you used to play and cherish?
negligence != value
monthly fee for unlimited access is the win/win solution.
why would they publish 2000 (just a number) titles, when 95% of gamers are going to purchase 2% of them.
sega channel did just this, and it rocked 15 years ahead of it\'s time.
it would flourish now.

Just finished watching it too.
I ended up somewhat impressed. I\'m witholding judgement until I hear from some journalists about how it handled on the show floor, though. Still. I was always in buy a Wii and either 360 or PS3 camp.
Zelda on Wii looks GREAT. I can\'t wait to play that thing.
-
I\'ll pay 10 dollars for Majora\'s Mask.
-
mm, Chrono Trigger goes for way more than $5 on eBay, so no. (Though, this game isn\'t confirmed for the Virtual Console, but it\'s the one SNES game I\'m looking for, at any rate)
I also only have one game for Genesis (a crime, I know), and don\'t have a TG16. So... Sign me up! ;]
-
i have my original copy of CT, why doesn\'t anyone who holds such fond memories of it is what im asking
why would you spend 10$ on MM when you probably already spent 50$ on it a few years ago?
a monthly fee for unlimited access and a rotating game list is the way to go (ie. sega channel).

I even pre-ordered it years ago, but I lent it to a friend and I moved cities before I could get it back and he moved to the other side of the continent.
I only played it through once too. Even that through that one time I had every mask and still had things to do somehow. I miss that game!
-
That\'s true, I don\'t even have Super Mario 64 anymore. And I never played Majora\'s Mask. I\'ll definitely buy back SM64. I\'d be tempted to get SMB and SMW just to have it all on one console.
-
I was just curious if anyone knows if Sony will be doing a similar thing with their back library???
I really want to buy Suikoden 2 but is hella expensive.
-
So, any news on hardware performance? I heard it doesnt even outdo Xbox 1...
-
I heard it does...quite a while ago actually. I believe the term was "suped up Xbox"
