Chef would be cool too, but not up there :thumb:

Chicks dig guys who can cook them a damn good meal.
Those are all incredibly stupid jobs.

Video game designer # 1 ? . I\'ve worked for Streamline Studio\'s on their Xbxo360 game for 3 months + 4,5 months for Eximion games.
The job is a love - hate thing.
- Not all, but..) it\'s one of the least financially reliable work. (example ; Lionhead recently ditched 40 ppl, just like that)
- Non paid overhours and not a few at that (The EA scandal)
- Consessions ! Alot of cool stuff or potential, on which programmer teams and art teams worked will often NOT make it into the final game. The damn publishers have too big a voice into core game content. Game developer\'s passion for the work get\'s \'circumcised\'.
Alot of ppl i talked to during my time admitted, \'off the record\', that a high percentage of ppl burn out after 2 to 5 years and exit the games industry.

I was pretty disappointed with all the career choices except brewer. It must be cool to brew beer.
-
I\'d rather be a bartender at some cool club. My friend did that for a while and he made quite a bit of money.
-
I always enjoyed my carreer as a truck driver

True that.
I would have though porn star would have been up there. How many men can actually say they are into that business and really good at it?

yea no doubt,..i thought for sure IT would\'ve been in there somewhere, followed by some type of restauraunt franchise or chain...would\'ve never expected those jobs to be in the top 5...

Video games quality control yes, designer.. no.

Cheffing is a fucking shithouse job. Shit hours, shit money, shit family life, no social life, no sporting life, lose all your friends due to when you/they are working. etc. etc.
Benefits: Can travel, can bang hot waitresses. But really, anyone can travel and bang chicks.
And I should know.
-
^ dammit!! :(
-
Oh Bobbo, you\'re so manly

Are you talking about the chefs that work in the back that never see the light of day?
-
...what?
-
A good friend of mine is a chef here in NYC. He seems to have a normal social life and has a damn loft.
It totally depends on location, I guess.
-
Of course there are exceptions. You have to be lucky.
Every experienced chef I\'ve ever met complains an awful lot about all the things I just mentioned, and then some. Working public holidays, working birthdays, and other important events, social and otherwise. Not to mention younger chefs becoming increasingly burnt out. I\'ve also known a lot of apprentices who dropped out because they didn\'t want to sacrifice as much as they were starting to.
At the moment I have a cruisy job, and am enjoying my social life immensely, not to mention have taken up sports again also. However, it is painful every time my friends ask me to do something and I am unavailable. Or anytime my girlfriend wants me to go on holidays, or even a weekend away, it\'s nearly impossible. And that\'s with an amazingly cruisy job. So many sacrifices have to be made, and with very little monetary benefit.
Overall, I wouldn\'t recommend it as a proffession. But if you\'re passionate about the cooking, then I suppose you\'ll love it.
Edit: It\'s also known as the second most stressful job in the world. Throw that into the mix.

I\'m Jumpman bitch haha!
...

yeah I worked in a restaurant for several years as a sous chef and It sucked. You have to work from like 3pm - midnight... later on friday/saturday nights. Have to work the holidays (busiest time for restaurants in resort areas) You basically work non-stop and can never have any fun hanging out with friends in the evening.
never again
-
Say bobbo, are you a chef? :p
-
Being an analyst would be fun.
Just assuming random shit and getting paid.
-
job i have now isn\'t that bad,..i work nights, and the only saving grace is that i work 4 nights a week and i have my weekends off,...i would still prefer a nice 8-4 or 9-5 job...this shift work gets tired after awhile,...:(...tho nothing beats the job i had back in jersey,...i had a week off every month with that job,...i barely had to take any vacation days because of my schedule...that was a sweet-ass gig...oh well, this job is betta than no job at all,...
-
What is it clips? And without being specific, you get paid enough for live comfortable? The general line of thought is that cheap housing comes with the price of low wages.
But you\'re jump to Atlanta interests me (I\'m in Jersey, too) so I was just curious how you\'re doing.
-
i\'m doin the same thing i was doin in jersey,..a computer operator,..i was working with the zeke scheduling operating system involving alot of jes2 & jes3 commands...unix....ipl\'s etc.....right now i monitor and run programs for coca-cola using the as/400 operating system..and it\'s true the cost of living is a bit lower than up there, but i have 16 years experience doin this, so i\'m makin pretty close to what i was making jersey...i\'m living very comfortably right now, due largely to the fact that the real estate market down here is still fairly cheap....
heh if you ever plan on makin the jump just know that the thunderstorms down here are twice as bad as up there. i\'m kinda gettin used to them now but they can get pretty severe...other than that i have no complaints...
-
How is the south compared to Jersey? Are the horror stories true?

heh heh, naw it\'s not that bad...there are rednecks down here fo-sho, but you have to travel waay out in boonies for that,..and yes you will see alot ice in everyone\'s grill,..at least from the younger set,..the way they portay themselves in those videos are exactly how they are in reality,...:p..where i\'m at tho, is like a suburban type area, not much different from upscale piscataway,nj..so it\'s cool..if i want to get my club on, atlanta is only 40 minutes away...the kkk, if they are down here it\'s non existent,..one thing i\'ve seen alot of tho is those old chevy caprices..*y\'know the old police joints?*..i\'ve seen alot of them sittin on 22\'s :p...cats are straight up country down here,..and proud of it...

Full of racist rednecks who hate the North because they are still bitter about the Civil War.
