Title: Al- Zarqawi is toast...
Post by: clips on June 08, 2006, 03:26:17 AM
i couldn\'t help to feel a little bit happy when i seen this,...even tho i was against this war, i\'m glad this a**hole is pushin up daisies....hopefully this jerk is somewhere bein tortured by being fed pork chops and bathed in pork grease...even tho this probably won\'t stop the violence as these types of things sometimes just leaves the door open for some other nut,...but since this cat was kinda up there on the terrorist ladder, i\'m sure his followers on some level has gotta be like holy s**t!......again i was against this war, but it really is time for these people to stop with the bulls**t and the iraqi\'s get thier s**t together.

Only thing i dread now is that i know we\'re gonna have to hear mr. cowboy bush brag on for weeks about this.....

A little bit happy? Let go and be really happy. It\'s not going to stop the violence but this piece of excrement taking a dirt nap is very good news.

What is does is it fragments every bit of structure they had.  Now you are going to have a bunch of people fighting to take control which will be interesting.

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - Al-Qaida in Iraq confirmed the death of its leader, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and vowed it will continue its ``holy war\'\' in a statement posted on the Web on Thursday.
``We want to give you the joyous news of the martyrdom of the mujahed sheik Abu Musab al-Zarqawi,\'\' said the statement, signed by ``Abu Abdel-Rahman al-Iraqi,\'\' identified as the deputy ``emir\'\' or leader of al-Qaida in Iraq. ``The death of our leaders is life for us. It will only increase our persistence in continuing holy war so that the word of God will be supreme,\'\' it said.

``Durka durka durka," it added. ``Mohammed jihad."

When these assholes die, they almost become more powerful than they were in life.  It\'s crazy I know, but that\'s the whole arabic fundamentalist adulation of martyrdom.  We\'re now going to see all sorts of banners, flags, signs, and t-shirts with Al-Zarqawi\'s face on them.  They might even make a new Iraqi holiday for him.

I recently read a book entitled In the Belly of the Green Bird: The Triumph of the Martyrs in Iraq by Nir Rosen.  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0743277031/qid=1149783258/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-6657021-7540919?s=books&v=glance&n=283155 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0743277031/qid=1149783258/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-6657021-7540919?s=books&v=glance&n=283155)

I don\'t know why he threw the word "triumph" into that title because they certainly haven\'t triumphed... but it\'s a very interesting subject.  This book does not take any partisan political stance toward the war.  It\'s simply an inside look at the insurgency in Iraq from the perspective of an american journalist who penetrated their structure.  There is some pretty disturbing stuff in this book, and it doesn\'t paint a very pretty picture for the future of Iraq.

Another one will come but for now without leadership, I\'m sure the terror cells are much more disorganized and its time to take advantage of that. It will take some time for them to reorganize and pick a new leader and get their shit together. In the time it takes to do that, they can really mop the floor with those bastards.

It doesn\'t matter if you\'re for or against the war. Killing this guy is a huge step and its really good news to get things moving forward.

I wonder if he died in his New Balance tennis shoes :p

we said the same thing after we took saddam down and a few other top guys. They arent going to crumble. I wouldnt even be surprised if al-zarqawi said \'if I die, this is what you do.\' They arent stupid.

they still didnt expect the insugency to rise since \'everything would crumble after saddam was out\'.

well..i shouldnt say that because the military generals said it would be a problem but rumsfeld overlooked it and went ahead with his plan.

but saddam was the only example i could come up with off hand. I remember them saying the same thing when we took some other top guys, whether that be regime people or people highly regarded in al qaeda

So did the Taliban. The insurgencies we are facing are their own thing.

Um...not exactly.

You remember Sadaam\'s Royal Guard right? Well the insurgency didn\'t just spring around unknown of street thugs. The Royal Guard still runs and controls much of the insurgency.

Yeah, but they are still their own thing. They started the insurgency and recruited other people.

IN THE late afternoon sky over Iraq, two F-16 pilots were "in the orbit", as the US Air Force calls it, cruising through a routine patrol about to become anything but.

Their radios crackled. A "high-value target" - military-speak for a terrorist big shot - was in an isolated safe house in a date palm grove below. Here are the co-ordinates, they heard. Prepare to engage. As the pilots swung towards Baquba, the most wanted man in Iraq probably did not even notice the fighter jets, kept kilometres away, or realise he had been betrayed by an ally and trailed by US special forces.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi - the face of the Iraqi insurgency, beheader of hostages and bomber of civilians, a man whose taste for violence made him stand out even in a violent land - never saw it coming.

The first 227-kilogram, guided bomb hit the safe house at 6.15pm on Wednesday, Baghdad time. The pilots doubled back and decided not to take any chances. They dropped a second satellite-guided bomb "to ensure the target set was serviced appropriately", an air force general said.

Zarqawi, his spiritual adviser, Sheik Abu Abdul-Rahman, and four others were dead - after a week-long investigation.
