God damned awesome.
Your thoughts?
-
Wasn\'t a fan of the first and I think Kevin Smith is full of himself, campy as his films are. Mallrats was cool though.
CII seems to be getting favorable reviews though.
-
went to see \'lady in the water\' instead.
i\'ll catch clerks 2 on dvd
-
Lady in the Water was probably way funnier than Clerks 2.

It\'s strange that you mention Mallrats, which was his shittiest film. I guess either Chasing Amy or Dogma are the best.
-
Chasing Amy, Kevin Smith\'s only truly good film.
Lady in the Water , couldn\'t pay me to sit through another M.Night crapfest.
-
Chasing Amy was his closest to the mainstream. Best romantic comedy ever?
Dogma was his smartest.
Mallrats was his wackiest. Okay, maybe J&SBSB is... but Mallrats is better.
-
Dogma takes the title IMO.
-
Chasing Amy was definately his best, IMO.
A long way from best romantic comedy ever, though. I\'d be more inclined to give that to Punch Drunk Love.
Clerks was overrated anyways. Funny, sure. But overrated.
-
I\'m not a big KS fan, although I did quite like Clerks.

Speak the truth.
More love for Punch Drunk Love.

Actually I believe "Jersey Girl" was his most mainstream film. So mainstream, a lot of people probably didn\'t notice it was Kevin Smith\'s.
I love "Punch Drunk Love." I scorn people who don\'t understand it. Philip Seymor Hoffman\'s most villainous role!!!! :)

I actually forgot "Jersery Girl" even existed. Never watched it.
I can tolerate Dogma and Mallrats (Joey Lauren Adams = The Hotness), but Chasing Amy is the only film where I think Smith wrote the characters to the point you cared what happened to them.
Oh and yeah, Punch Drunk Love for the win! It proved Sandler could do a legit role, much like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind done for Carrey.
;)

I love Punch Drunk too but Eternal Sunshine was forgettable. And don\'t get me started on Lost in Translation. :fighting:

Oh no you did not go there. I\'ll agree with Lost in Translation, but Etneral Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a damn masterpiece.

Mallrats was his best simply because of the awesomeness that is Gil Hicks, I can laugh at that guy forever and ever.
"ohh, definetly a jackhammer, I\'m in there with some force and when I\'m done.. you\'re not the same... you\'re changed"
That\'s just funny to me
-
I meant the most mainstream of the View Askew movies. Jersey Girl is clearly mainstream, duh.
-
I loved both Eternal Sunshine and Lost in Translation.
But Carey proved he could do a legit role long before ESotSM.
-
I\'m an aspiring actor, and let me tell you that regardless of how silly a part is, it\'s harder than it seems to act.
Especially Jim Carrey\'s parts. Lots of great physical comedy, and superb delivery.
Bob is right. The Truman Show, Man on the Moon, and several other "more serious" roles were notched in Carrey\'s belt before Eternal Sunshine. He\'s a great actor, funny and fun to watch.
-
Lost in Translation = overrated. Just plain lackluster compared to other lonely-romantic films such as Station Agent or Before Sunrise.
Eternal Sunshine had an inventive backstory but I didn\'t like Carrey\'s performance. Carrey always has this "WTF" wide-eyed look on his face, which he\'s great at, but I\'d really prefer the common man like Paul Giomatti. To be honest, even if Giomatti played the role I still wouldn\'t like it.

Clerks 2 was awesome
-
i like ks movies, and really liked clerks, but im not expecting this to be good!!
i cant even believe he is making a sequel to it!
