I can\'t get over the domestic reaction to this. No more Ipods allowed on planes? No Gameboys? Yeah because hassling little Johnny is going to stop terrorism.

Is that really baby formula? Prove it by drinking it in front of me!

What is this?

Thank you for leaving America and welcome to O\'hare International. Please check your bags and freedoms at the counter.

I can\'t wait til a terrorist replaces his shoelaces with wire to strangle someone. Uh oh! Velcro shoes only! And no buttons - they have thread.

The pussification of America continues, and some people justify this. Like taking someone\'s Capri Sun is going to stop a terrorist plot.

Just once I\'d like to read how we stopped something in the 3 hour air port line. We\'re just hassling ourselves for no benefit.

Here\'s the answer:

Solid welded wall between pilots and plane. Door to cockpit is on the outside of the plane at the nose. That way a terrorist couldn\'t even demand the door be opened by taking a hostage mid flight. He\'d have to exit the plane to get up there.

Then add one plain clothes officer armed with non lethal weapon(s) to every flight.

Finally, change the bathroom system to be like a department store fitting room. An attendant lets you in and goes in afterward (sorry hon) to clean lightly and just generally check for any contraptions or chemicals that may have been left behind. The toilets and sinks shall also be solid all the way back to the wall so nothing can be hid behind/under them. Just to help the employee out.

Inside the airport - go back to metal detectors and xrays. And keep the random shoe checks just for fun.

To pay for the plane upgrades, raise plane ticket costs $20 apiece until the upgrades are finished.

Done, I just solved the national crisis, I\'ll be in my room at a heightened state of alert if you need me. It\'s ok to bring your fluids, shoelaces, toenail clippers, Ipods, cellphones and video games back on the plane now and you won\'t need to wake up at 2:30 a.m. to catch a 7 o\'clock flight. You\'re welcome. Have fun.

eik, you\'ll thank them the next time you fly and land safely.

else, find another form of transportation.  flying is not required

I\'ve flown and landed safely a few times. Back when it was just as dangerous but we had freedoms to be comfortable. I\'m thankful for that.

I\'m not afraid of toenail clippers. And if someone wants to get on a plane with a weapon, they will. With a plastic shiv and a choke wire, I just came up with two and I\'m a good guy who spent 30 seconds thinking about it.

Live in fear if you want, but I\'m not that naive.

We just react.

And it\'s useless. Intelligence is rooting them out. At the airport we\'re doing nothing but harassing thousands of citizens every day.

Next time you\'re on a plane and three kids won\'t shut up because they don\'t have anything to keep them entertained, see how thankful you are. Little by little we keep taking away the freedoms of these people on a plane. When does it stop? Nail clippers? Contact lens solution? Ipods? How about combs? Shoe laces? Pens? Snakes?

We\'ve gone way beyond the means of protecting citizens and now we\'re just acting out of fear and people like you are apparently buying into it.

But you\'re no more safer or more in danger when flying than you\'ve ever been.

And once someone attacks a sub way we can start dicking around with people who ride the subway.

Then taxi cabs.

Then your own cars.

I hope one day I need to take my shoes off before I get into my car in a parking garage. Let\'s just spread the ridiculous bullshit everywhere.

No Ipods in libraries. No contact lens solution allowed in municipal buildings. Is that baby formula in my shopping mall? I don\'t think so terrorist.

We might as well put a basket out by the xray machines in airport and label it for plastic shivs.

We\'re wasting our time. Next time I get to wait in line for 3 hours, asked to prove my water is water, take my shoes off and stow away my Al Qaida DS, I\'m supposed to be glad that I\'m safer? I\'ll just be pissed that I\'m being jerked around.

Land of the free. Sure. Air of the free? Not so much.

This country is losing its mind. Next time I\'m on a flight and it lands safely, I\'ll be glad it\'s over as long as my luggage is still safe.

there\'s people out there eik, that want to kill you solely because you\'re a. american, b. believe in a god other than allah.

they are a civilization of hatred and murder.

you can ignore that and skip happily along, but most can\'t.

you are lucky to live in the country and have the freedoms you do, sacrifice a few.

We need to fix security on airports. Get Israeli troops over here to train our idiots working in security. Israel has their shit together in airport security.

These people don\'t go disappear everytime I check my Ipod, either.

you can ignore that and skip happily along, but most can\'t.

I don\'t ignore that, but I don\'t ignore that our airports aren\'t addressing it properly, either.

No.

Growing lines of irritated travelers snaked through U.S. airport terminals Thursday as people waited hours to reach security checkpoints, where they were ordered to dump all liquids, water bottles, suntan lotion, even toothpaste, following the discovery of a terror plot involving planes leaving Britain.

Terrorists.

Pretty naive of you Eik.  Whats your big plan on what the airports should do then?

I predict that the airlines will start losing mucho dinero again. Who really wants to check notebooks, ipods and other exspensive small electronics in cargo luggage with all of the snakes who steal at airports. I guess I have to start driving up north again b/c I refuse to have things stolen from me that i work hard for. Then to fight with the airline to replace said items. It\'s just not worth it to me. I don\'t really care about the liquids and gels ban.

I listed it in my first post.

It involved a hijack-proof plane that also protects its passengers during flight and checks bathrooms for anything out of the ordinary.

In the airport, I kept random shoe checks, metal detectors and luggage xrays.

Then I returned everyone\'s freedoms back to them since I\'m a nice guy.

And I raised ticket prices to pay for it, although the government (taxpayers) could (should) throw some cash at it, too.

Things are far from as cut and dry as you make it out to be.

The only scenario that exposes an airplane in my scenario is getting a remote or timed explosive past xrays. So I guess airports should train the people at xray machines to look for explosives.

And snakes.

It actually is as cut and dry as I\'ve made it out to be.

And if something still happens, it would have happened whether Bozco brought his PSP on board or not.

The reason planes haven\'t been given reinforced holds between the cockpit and the passengers is because of money. And I addressed that too.

The FAA didn\'t fix anything the right way. Thank God we have intelligence agencies picking these people up before they get into an airport.

I don\'t want lax security. I want effective security and personal freedoms.

Well, that\'s fine for hijackers....  but you clearly didn\'t read the article about the current plot.

The plan, since you were too lazy to read up on it, didn\'t involve hijacking planes, it was rather to bring in dangerous liquid chemicals (no high explosives) camoflaged in other bottles.  Once these were on the plane, they planned to cause explosions/fires on the planes, big enough to cause the airliners to crash.  This was to happen on multiple flights as close to the same time as possible (read 5-10 big planes crashing in one day).  No need for complex timers, ignition devices, etc - it was a multi-pronged suicide attack.

Quote
British and U.S. investigators, describing a plot on the scale of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, said the planners sought to use common electronic devices to detonate liquid explosives to bring down as many as 10 planes.

The bombs were to be assembled aboard the aircraft, apparently with peroxide-based solution and everyday carry-on items such as a disposable camera or a music player, two American law enforcement officials told The Associated Press. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because Britain asked that no information be released.

Current security devices at the airport have no way to detect regular (but dangerous) liquids in bottles/tubes.  Xray can\'t identify it, and \'sniffers\' only look for high explosives.  Hence a choice - open EVERY bottle/tube in peoples luggage and test it or just throw it out.  In a few weeks it won\'t be a big hassle, because people will learn not to bring bottles in their carry ons, just like they\'ve learned to leave scissors, nail files, etc, in their checked luggage.

That\'s why I\'d have the bathroom checker. The only place these terrsts can get together secretly is in the bathroom. I fixed that.

With vigilant flight attendants, a plain clothes officer who is armed and a protected bathroom/sealed off cockpit, the only way to sneak something by would be to have your bomb maker team buy a few rows of tickets and assemble the bomb with cleverly hidden ingredients without other passengers, attendants or officers being able to see.

That is, if they were able to sneak onto the plane without having been caught by anti-terrorist intelligence groups beforehand.

I don\'t plan on flying anymore, not because of the terrorist thing but because it scared the piss out of me when I flew a couple weeks ago, if I fly again I will have to be terribly drugged. But I\'d rather prevent terrorism not by having the airports increase there strictness. But change there policies elsewhere so that these said fundamentalists leave us the fuck alone.

tru...no doubt, at this point it\'s just a matter of when....and bombing the s**t out of a country and wasting our resources on a country that had nothing to do with 911 certaintly doesn\'t help...bush keeps sayin that we are safer because we are takin the fight to them in iraq..as if all the terrorists in the world are in iraq....which by what happened in london just recently clearly rebuffs that...

i want these terrorists to be wiped out just as much as the next guy, and this is after i\'ve tried to understand their *the terrorists* argument. at the end of the day these people just want death and destruction no matter what, and while i didn\'t agree with the war in iraq, 911 was not justified by them on any level,...i know america are not saints either but they are lightyears ahead of these people in terms of morals and human compassion.

that said, tho all i\'am saying is that we should direct our resources to the perps that orchestrated 911, and focusing all of our energy in iraq while some cells are organizing other forms of destruction *uk london, u.s sleeper cells* could be detrimental to our overall cause...

And we got WW3 coming up we need to prepare for. But look at it this way. Fighting in Iraq is getting our tactics worked out and practice in before the big game ;)
