THIS (http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D8JL2LK80.htm?sub=apn_tech_down&chan=tc) is the kind of shit that gets people so jaded about big business. They lobby to have their industry deregulated to \'save money\' for consumers. Read above, but basically they get it deregulated and then say that developing this new \'stand alone\' service has cost them money. Ugh.
-
haha kinda funny actually. Hate it or not it\'s a smart move by Verizon. No one gets charged more than they were before so complaints will be minimal. They get some extra revenue so hopefully service will improve, benefitting the customer in the end.
See, there was a silver lining in there somewhere
-
IF customers benefit which thay rarely do. When they do, it\'s not b/c of capacity, it\'s b/c the big dogs are just tossing a bone so the little dogs can stop yelping.
-
interesting story there.
-
I see nothing wrong with it, infact, it\'s business as usual. Smart business at that.
-
Like microtransactions for consoles. *runs away*
It\'s annoying, but if I\'m Verizon, I\'d do the same thing - tho maybe for half the fee so customers still saw a decrease. Then it\'d be more money for me plus happier customers.
-
My problem with this is they are basically saying that this stuff is ok... as long as the consumer is ignorant of the change, what\'s the harm?!! Well, simply put, taxes at least benefit the people, even after you take off corruption loss, you end up better off than that money in the hands of a few private individuals.
If business are allowed to get away with things like this, you will be taken in simmilar ways all the time, because nobody really has time to be researching every little charge/bill they get from all the numerous companies they deal with on a regular basis.

That\'s your favorite arguement post.... man it\'s pathetic. No brain to come up with logic, just schoolyard taunting to get your way. I would expect better of anyone over the age of 12 these days, but I guess I\'ll just be continually dissapointed with you LiC.

No, you\'re just another whiney-ass who wants to complain about a company making money.
Get over it.
-
Yet another chance for redemption blown. Too bad.
-
He likes to use the same comment towards everyone.
-
I don\'t care if you think I didn\'t "redeem" myself. I am just pointing out that you are one of those who bitches about stupid shit, like a company making money. It\'s stupid, they are in a business, a business makes money. Get over it and move on.
No to mention...
"actually they sent us an email a few days ago about this change. they didn\'t take the whole surcharge back so I\'ll save a couple cents a month. WOOHOO!!!!"
Vid\'s post nelgates everything you bitched about.
Move on, troll.
-
Strike three, you\'re out.
We\'ll have to wait a few months to see if there\'s any appreciable \'improvement\' to service like they\'ve promised.

Right, because THERE IS ALWAYS room for improvement.. You\'re an idiot if you think just because of a price cut, improvement should be made. This isn\'t a perfect world.

FCC upset over Verizon, BellSouth fees; expect formal inquiries
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060825-7596.html
BellSouth stands to collect about $114 million annually from the new fee (same as the old fee), and Verizon\'s surcharge should rake in somewhere between $90 million and $194 million
Looks like the FCC thinks the same way Fatal does. Nice to see some corporate feathers get ruffled.
-
Screw the FCC.
Let a company charge whatever they want. If you don\'t like the service or price, don\'t subscribe to it.

and that ends that

Consumer protection agencies really are needed. Companies are obligated (often under the law, and by shareholders) to do everything possible to maximize profits, which is why they will take advantage of ignorance and loopholes wherever possible.
Circuit City (http://kotaku.com/gaming/top/sleazy-circuit-city-ripping-off-xbox-360-customers-198065.php) is trying to charge people $30 USD for a service that\'s already free. Ugh.
-
wow, couldn\'t believe Circuit City would do such a thing. a sense a lawsuit coming up for that one...
