it\'s very nice, I just wish I had some more time to figure it out. Also, I noticed that the lenses I want for it cost more than the camera !
anyhoo.... I\'m a zombie and don\'t even know why I started this thread. Except to ask for any tips other owners may have....besides reading the book, which I am trying to find time to do.:running:

Get this lens:
Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM
-
You have pics for the camera?
-
I would like to see the pictures of your camera and pictures taken by this camera too. Videoholic seem to own Canon Rebel, so I think he can give out tips on it.
-
I\'ll try to upload some pics soon....so tired...
BTW that lens looks like the shuznit, gman. It\'s on my list
-
I admire people who get into this hobby, mainly because all the lenses and doo-dads confuse the hell out of me.

Looks slick. Please don\'t become one of those amateur photo geeks that makes fun of someone whenever they post vacation pictures online. ;)

did you pay more than 600? Just saw a deal last night.
Nice job on the camera. I bought mine a month before the XT came out.
DOH.

It loves to blur the background. Results look quite professional.
Here are some examples I googled for ya. The website there is slow though:

Don\'t tell me that.... I just whipped out the best buy card....since I don\'t carry a lot of CC debt, I didn\'t feel bad about it....
$799.... (plus tax, CF card and bag & tripod....Gotta love impulse buying.)
what\'s the diff between the xt & yours? Besides the way rad "XT" graphics, I mean....

I guess they\'re making way for the 10.5mp Rebel XTi (http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/XTI/XTIA.HTM)with um....a built in dust cleaner?
-
best buy has a 30 day price guarantee. CompUSA is what I was talking about.
XT has higher megapixel and a faster burst rate.
-
Best Buy will price match it, I think. But then again, their customer service is on par with the mafia.
-
You can NEVER go wrong with a Canon DSLR.
I have a Canon 5D (13 MP) and the quality is sensational, almost medium format, Canon really know what they are doing with their CMOS sensors.
No all you need is a 24-70mm L lens....
-
congrats on the purchase.. post some pics so we can see what it can do ;)
I\'m in the market for a camera myself (video though, DV) and i\'ve been eyeing the Canon GL2. I got an old Canon A-1 that is still my workhorse when I want to go old school.
-
Nice camera... I love my old SLR camera, and I\'m probably going to buy a Nikon D80 sometime in the next year by way of upgrade.

At the canon GL2 price\'s range. I think the Sony VX2100 is a better deal as it have 3 CCDs that are 1/3" each, while GL2 only have 3 CCDs that are 1/4" each...larger CCD is better at capturing low light pictures than smaller CCD. But if you shoot video in outdoor daylight environments, i think the difference is subtle and shouldn\'t matter much between the two cameras...it is not until you shoot indoor low light environment is when the bigger CCD shine over the smaller CCD...
-
Search for GL2 and you\'ll see my review. Also there\'s a link to a Panasonic version that is cheaper, better and smaller.
Here it is:

well one month later and I have some pics... but baby\'s screaming so only one: a honeybee on one of my perrenials. reduced greatly.
-
Holy crap. Nice camera. o_0
-
Yeah yeah. We know how you love to brag about your massively good camera :)
That is a nice pic though, lol
-
This Canon PowerShot I have is pretty decent. Nothing like the Rebel, but I took a pic of a fly on my screen door and the detail of the fly was...disgusting.
-
You get that with the stock lens? I\'m allergic to bees. It would sting me and I would die. You rock.
-
Good show Jizzy! I\'m thinking about getting a Rebel too... I want to get the 400D (Rebel XTi?) and a 50mm 1.8. And somewhere down the line a Tokina 12-24mm.
-
I\'m getting that lens gman mentioned for xmas. Once I get 4 seconds to think, I\'ll post more. There are a couple nice ones that I\'ll leave at (3348 x 2118 or whatever it is) and crop. you can see the hairs on the pistil of a flower.
-
Datsh a nysh pic. You\'ll have a blast with baby pics.
-
very nice picture. Its quite cool how you managed to took a picture of the bee without it getting scare and fly away.
although the resolution of the picture was reduced to fit on the screen, it still shows how natural the color is. the quality of this picture is very film-like. Remind me one of those pictures you would see printed on national geographic magazine...
-
thanks!
here\'s my baby...
-
cute baby.
-
Aww your kid is cute. Must take after the mother :p

The Nikon D50 is nice and cheap. Or perhaps better yet, the Digital Rebel XT should be getting some price cuts because of the new XTi.
-
Bought the Rebel XTi version with the EF 85 mm f 1.8 USM lens from Dell.
15% off on the body, 10% off for the lens. Should arrive by Thursday. I\'ll take pics to show off my n00biness.
-
DO IT!
But back on the cute baby topic, here\'s two I took with my phone on saturday...they\'re a lil blurry but cute nonetheless....
-
Way too cute. Take tons of pics....coz once she learns to curse you out, you\'ll cherish these days.
-
Aww cute. :)
