Last year tri-Ace revealed it was working on an untitled RPG for the Xbox 360, and today finally the first, scant, details emerge in the latest Famitsu issue. After its latest Valkyrie Profile for Square Enix, tri-Ace is getting its feet wet with a fantasy based RPG titled Infinite Undiscovery, which will use the developers typical real time combat system.
Famitsu also had an interview with Sakaguchi, some highlights (stolen from Gaf):
- In the opening movie for Lost Odyssey you can seamlessly input commands for the battle scene.
- Combat is not action driven but command menu driven.
- The playable demo lasts for 40-60 minutes.
- The final game will have even higher quality than the demo.
- The modeling for the movies are almost identical to the realtime models.
- Inoue (the character designer) is personally checking all the models.
- The demo\'s battles will just the most basic part of the system. The more indepth systems will be excluded.
- The character growth systems and so on will be in the final game only.
- Surviving enemies inherit the powers of those who are killed.
- Since the main character cannot die either there will not be a possibility of game over.
- The final game will use a physics engine.
- The final text message on the playable demo was written by Shigematsu (scenario writer for the various short stories that make up the game).
- Lost Odyssey will be playable at TGS, with the demo disc being released with Famitsu in early November.
- Lost Odyssey will be out in 2007.
- Blue Dragon will DEFINITELY be released within 2006.
- ASH is being targeted for the first half of 2007.
- There will be more titles being announced from Mistwalker.
Infinite Undiscovery looks hot. Lost Odyssey looks amazing. I can\'t wait to see more of Blue Dragon. TGS is going to be good.

Here is a picture from Infinite Undiscovery. Can you say "OMFG?!?!"

hello blur, nice to meet you

hello blur, nice to meet you
I think it looks amazing, but that\'s just me.
As I said before though, I\'m still not sold on the whole RPG thing, but Blue Dragon does look interesting. Taking the wait and see approach and hoping a demo of some of these games hit XBL.

Ehm.. no. It\'s just marvelous use of the depth of field effect.
The game looks great imo. Too bad i don\'t like RPG\'s.
-
Yeah this doesn\'t look like it\'d be interesting for me, either.

it\'s a crutch, don\'t make excuses

..and when Valve says "we\'re gonna put in more cinematic effects into our Source games.. like \'dof\'", the pc community hails them !?
C\'mon ... modern gpu features are THERE to make use of ; it\'s not hiding supposedly poor drawdistance like in the old days.
-
sure it is, why blur it?
for cinematics?
-
like in a photo, the background is blurry. it\'s very artistic. but you don\'t know anything about art.
you probably still watch movies. PEASANT!
-
I think it looks amazing, but it looks like Crystal Chronicle
-
It looks great to me too. Nice self shadowing, brilliant textures and effects

depth of field != blur
