Any brave souls out there want to give this a try? I want to download the 64-bit version but I\'m afraid I\'m going to have several software driver issues. I don\'t want to be MS\'s ginea pig.

Vista does support multiboot. I won\'t lie to you, if the final vista supports multiple OS then everyone will keep an old OS around for music ripping and older games.

vista will still let you play old game, iso pirated game and will even let you rip your and copy CD mp3 wpa..
the copy protection system that come with windows will not be used by everyone, and will be cracked like everything else within a couple weeks.

They aren\'t allowing ripping of CDs? Then why does Windows Media Player allow you to rip CDs? It does a great job might I add :) I rip them to put them on my mp3 player, not to share.

Have you read the specs for the new windows-integrated media rippers? Even IF you turn off the DRM, which is nasty and on by default, files will include unique info that will allow them to trace releases. Not to mention specific limitations they\'ve built in. Most of the attention\'s been going to the much more obvious and troublesome Protected Video Path - Output Protetion Management System (PVP-OPM), but audio and video are getting the screws. They want to make it all but impossible to record \'streaming\' video or audio (from the web),
Protected User-Mode Audio (PUMA) is the user-mode audio engine (completely new for Windows Longhorn) that runs in the software protected environment. PUMA also includes the same level of audio output protection management that Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) provides in Windows XP, but it is done in a completely different way and takes advantage of the Windows Longhorn software PE.
Protected Audio Path (PAP) is a longer term project to introduce audio encryption all the way to the audio codec chips.
Basically, you will need BOTH hardware and software to be able to rip more modern music tracks. If you use unsupported hardware, it can cripple your system, and DRM will be built into the modern video/audio cards. M$ just bent over for the RIAA and MPAA with the DRM \'features\' they included for the next generation, and they\'re going to trample on a heckovalot of legitimate users along the way.

All I have to say is... FU Microsoft. I don\'t give a rats ass about Vista, I\'ll be using Mac OS X soon.

Doesn\'t WMP only allow you to rip at half quality? I tried setting it higher, but the option isn\'t there. This is why I use iTunes (plus iTunes burns CDs faster from what I\'ve tested).
I don\'t give a rats ass about Vista, I\'ll be using Mac OS X soon.
Maybe OS X Leopard, which comes out around the same time as Vista, will be able to boot Vista. o_0 Boot Camp will be integrated into Leopard by default to run Windows XP natively, so I don\'t see why the next step wouldn\'t be Vista. I need both, so an Intel Mac is what I have to use right now. And Macs are becoming a LOT cheaper these days.

If I ever need to use XP again, I\'ll just use virtualization to run it from inside Mac OS X (I don\'t need to run games).

Parallels Desktop allows you to use virtualization. It\'s pretty damn fast. I\'m glad that the days of emulation are over. Parallels Desktop for OS X basically allows you to install virtually any OS like Linux, BeOS, DOS, Windows 95, etc...
Or you can just use Boot Camp to boot right into Windows XP. A little trick I learned is that, since Boot Camp supplies you with all the appropriate drivers by letting you burn a driver disc, you can just use that driver disc to make Parallels load the best inside OS X.
You need a decent amount of RAM though because you\'ll be literally running two OS\'s natively at the same time.
If you don\'t need to run games you won\'t be as affected by it. But you can only always natively boot into WinXP if you feel the need.
