I just got back from our annual meeting for EB games And gamestop , and i got to play
Genji , MotorStorm , and Resistance
they all where on those new sony XBR tv\'s running at 720 P
Ok first off , to al the people, ( including myself at 1 point ) When you look at a ps3 game, you know your looking at a ps3 game , there is a very distinctive difference in them, the games are so crystal clear, the shadows, the particle effects are soo nice, and from what i played , all 3 of those games look a bit better then anything ive seen and played on 360.
Genji : originally i didnt think i would like this title, but after playing it , im buying this game on DAY1 ,
The way you can swap between characters at any given time is actually very nice , and gives for some huge combos, i got to play with the main dood with the swords, the big guy with the giant pole ( lol ) and some chick with these rings on a chain , this game when you see it in person looks amazing , plays very fast and very good, the whole time i played it NOT once did the frame rate EVER drop at ALL,The colors are so nice and vibrant , got to play what looked like and opening stage wich just kinda let you see how to play with the people , then once you beat that it moved you to a battlfield with a bunch of guys on it, everything was on fire , looks awesome ( they said this game would use some tilt features but was not in this demo )
MotorStorm: This honestly is the best looking game i personally think i have ever seen as far as realizm, This game is so beautiful you really have to se it in person , for those people that think gears of war has great graphics ( wich it does ) this game in all aspects looks better than that. They only had 1 course for us to play but it did let us pick between prolly about 7 different vehicles , i played with the motor cycle dirt bike, and a dune buggy , they handle like you are in the dirt , turbo is really cool, u have a meter if you hold turbo too long you rides engine and car will blow up.Every time u blow up or crash u get the burnout slo mo effect .Almost everysingle part of the car can be destroyed , I rammed a guy next to me and knocked his driver side door off, then i rammed him again and he actually fell out of the car . I notced this with all the games i played , MotorStorm looked spectacular and Not once, EVER did the Frame rate drop . ( o yeah this was the one game they said would have ni tilt features )
Resistance : This game is really cool , graphic wise it looks extremly well , somtimes when u get up on a wall the textures dont look to good . When u get up on an enemy or zoom in on his dead body to look at them, they are EXTREMLEY detailed. The weapons in this game are AWESOME. I really like the sniper rifle , it\'s alt fire makes time slow down for AWESOME headshots. The ragdoll physics are sooo sweet in this game , And another thing to note , for instance, im going down some stairs, and instead oflike just killing a guy or 2, like 10 or 15 guys come runnin up the stairs, these things are jumping off the walls, there are alot of guys on screen at once.there where 3 lvls for us to play and they where all awesome , this game has a fast paced feel like UT in a way , blowinf people up with grenades is SUCH a rush and soo fun. I am a Halo ( 1 ) fan myself, i have the game on xbox and on pc for multiplayed , even tho i didnt get to play multiplayed in the demo of resistance, the single played experience rivals if not surpases that of Halo, they have done an extremly well job at balancing this game, making the weapons fun, lots of enemies, ragdoll is perfect , giant enemies , the whole feel of this game is just awesome , even this game looks a bit better than anything that is out on the 360 . O yeah, with all the people on the screen, ships flying over head, explosions goinf off , and all the chaose that is going on, NOT once did i EVER see the FRAME RATE drop at all.
After playing these 3 titles ,and getting confermatin that all 3 of these will be available on November 17th, I will be buying all 3 of these games, Like i stated before you can defenetly tell the difference between a 360 game and a ps3 game , and its not something you have to look for, its apparent from the start , the graphics are so clear , the effects and shadows and everything are just sooo nice , and iff you didnt notice, on all 3 that i played the frame rate neer droped not once at all, to me and alot others this is huge, i havnt played a 360 game yet that dont have frame rate issues ( besides knockout kings, wich is awesome ) . I went in there a bit sceptical, just a bit, and walked out completley 100% happy with what i seen and played,
just on another note, the new ps3 controller as we al know, has the battery built in, comes with the charger also , and i was told you will get 25 - 30 hours of gameplay on them . I like the new controller alot, theres nothing like a ps controller, the new triggers are really nice, and made from a rubber now also, and the analog sticks also stick upward a bit more than they did, my only complaint is that i wish the controller had a tad bit more weight to it.Another cool thng was that the games where runnin off of component cables, the guy showed me lol , the system uses the same imput as the ps1 and the ps3 , so hopefully HDMI will be a bit better .
I cannot wait for NOV 17 now!

Me too can\'t wait ! :)

Dammit, just when I thought I lost interest in PS3 this happens... Now I need to save money again.
-
I officially have new console fever. Damn this is gonna be a difficult unit to get. DAMMIT!!!
-
All 3 of those games look a bit better then anything ive seen and played on 360.
A whole bit better? Wow! ;]
Genji and Resistance don\'t do much for me, but Motorstorm is a good selling point for PS3. It\'d be cooler if the developer had time to implement the tilt controls a la Excitetruck, but maybe in the sequel.
-
When I get my unit in March, MotorStorm will be the game I get with my system. :)

a little present for you :) ...Oct.19 !
Sony\'s Last Pre-Launch Presser
We\'ve heard the rumblings for quite awhile now, but it wasn\'t official until today. Sony is holding one last press gathering before the launch of the Playstation 3.
The Gamer\'s Day event, an invitation to "preview the beginning of the next generation", will take place on Thursday, Oct. 19 in San Francisco and feature a round-table discussion, executive presentations and a half-day of hands-on gaming time. :shy:
I suspect Sony will have most, if not all, of their launch titles on hand for playtime as well, perhaps, as some early builds of later games.
This has also got to be the event where Sony dishes the details on PSP connectivity and the PS3\'s online capabilities. I\'m psyched... and going. Brian Crecente

This is all very cool but so few consoles being delivered for launch I\'m feeling frustrated.

Think they got the idea from Nintendo\'s press conferences last month?

who knows...but I\'m so happy...14 Oct. for an overview of the system architecture and new development tools, 19 Oct. for a half-day of hands-on gaming time and now this one = November 8 !

MotorStorm up to date preview :
http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3154216 (http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3154216)
1UP: The TGS version of the game felt a bit slower than we expected it to. Is this part of your approach, or just the result of an incomplete TGS demo version?
PS: This is simply due to the demo being incomplete. We want every vehicle to feel fast and since TGS we have made improvements to framerate and tweaked the cameras and handling and already the game is much faster. I don\'t expect anyone to find the final game slow.
New trailer which kicks @ss :

For Wii, Excite Truck looks cool, but imho the Nitro jumps are really too much over the top atm. I hope for the sake of the game they\'ll tone it down. Fun * arcade is :thumb: with me, but imho MotorStorm looks to kees things more \'credible\' without hampering the funfactor.

When I get my unit in March, MotorStorm will be the game I get with my system. :)
Yep Fasty ! ;) ...the same for me !
This Game is amazing !

Check out the development for MotorStorm.. From Game Developers Conference when we first were shown a real time demo of MotorStorm up to Gamers Day when the latest build was shown off.
Notice the HUGE difference between the E3 2006 build and the TGS 2006-build. :)

what do you think ? :)
-
Looks like fun to me. I think Motorstorm might be the game to get on day one. Resistance looks boring.
-
Looks brilliant!! Almost like a CG. Ofcourse the images are small so they migh hide some visual flaws. Anwyways is it me or these flags look like they came out from the HS trailer?
-
IMO its the best looking "next gen" racer by far. Very very impressive in motion. All things going on, the lightning, effects etc. Evolution Studios truly is delivering. :)
Now when the game is coming out in march I hope they spend that extra time trying to make the fps rock solid. The Gamers Day videos had some slowdowns here and there, but I\'m sure they will be fixed.

Cannot wait to put my hands on this game !

According to EGM, Motorstorm will use tilt controls for steering. Although it didn\'t say it would use it for tilt (which does make sense, since you can\'t actually tilt a truck from the driver\'s seat).
This makes it the version of Excitetruck that I wish I could play!

Resistance: Fall of Man Preview !
Seeing as this is one of the PS3\'s flagship titles, it\'s probably worth spending a moment talking about initial impressions of the next-gen behemoth\'s technical abilities. Although the game\'s unlikely to wow you in terms of stunning photorealism, it\'s hard not to be impressed by the slightly exaggerated visuals developer Insomniac has opted for. Although everything has a slight cartoonishness about it, there\'s no doubting the massive sense of scale present from the off. From the incredible draw distance and architectural touches to the incidental, yet hugely immersive, effects like realistic smoke, destructible scenery and relentless explosions shifting huge chunks of debris around the screen, Insomniac\'s world is wholly believable and involving from the off.
Even more impressive is the quality of AI apparent, even in our relatively incomplete demo. If you\'re used to the shop dummy enemies of games like Half-Life 2 - you know the ones, happy to stand around looking nonplussed while you empty a round of bullets into their heads - prepare for a serious wakeup call. The Chimera are tough and won\'t miss a single opportunity to duck, weave or retreat in the face of opposition. Similarly, you\'ll need to keep your wits firmly about you in the more labyrinthine areas of the game, with foes routinely using cunning to flank or simply ambush your squadron if you don\'t stay alert at all times. Needless to say then, Resistance is hard - infuriatingly, hair-tearingly difficult but always fair - it\'s a game that demands you become a better soldier, learning the intricacies of your arsenal if you want to survive to the end. Of course, the upside here is that Resistance is relentless in terms of tension and, frankly, that\'s the way we like our FPSs.

Enjoy !

new Resistance movie...
http://www.gon.se/media/GON_testar_PS3/resistance.wmv
It\'s nice !
-
seems kind of repetitive. see same looking enemy, unload, see enemy, unload, see enemy, unload.
-
Welcome to first person shooters, heh.
-
not if you pick the right ones, lol. Big difference between well-thought out FPS\'s and a game thats overall mindless run and gun. Cant really explain it..
moral of the story is that out of all the FPS\'s, nothing stands out for me in resistance. Ill stick to rainbow six, battlefield 2, and probably gears of war. and graw if im really in the mood for taking things slowly. I actually kind of wish i bought it for 360 and not PC..but i got the 360 way after getting the PC version.

MotorStorm Final Hands-On !
UK, November 3, 2006 - Wow. We\'ve just played through the final Japanese version of MotorStorm and we\'re still shaking from the experience. It\'s not hangover jitters either, rather the effect of adrenaline coursing through our veins after playing PS3\'s off-road epic on an eight-foot screen via a high-def projector. To say it looks awesome is an understatement: the earlier builds we\'ve played looked impressive but now it\'s faster, more detailed and closer to the original E3 tech demo than we ever expected. In short it\'s the most impressive racing game we\'ve seen in a long time and is a definite must-have come the launch of PlayStation 3.

Great ! :fro:

ih ih :)......maybe a launch for Europe in March :)
