So EB Games, Gamestop and Software Etc. opened their pre-order plan for PS3 this morning.
And promptly sold out in my area.
I went to the local stores at the mall today at 11:30. They each had sold out of 16 PS3 pre-orders apiece. Rumor has it they may only actually get in around 5 systems per store, though!
So much for my get-rich-quick idea.
Hopefully I can get a Wii, though. I\'ll actually want to keep that one.

i preordered from FYE which is an electronics store back in May during E3. They were the only ones accepting preorders at the time. I am currently 20th on the list. But, they didn\'t divide up the 20GB and 60GB orders. So hopefully, half of the people in front of me ordered 20GB versions, and Sony announced they are making more 60GB versions than 20GB...maybe I\'ll get one on launch day!

i doubt the hard-core guys that got there before you settled for the 20GB...
Im not an ebay guy, and theres no way im trusting a launch console. PS2\'s were messed up, 360\'s were messed up, xbox\'s were probably messed up (cant remember)...theres always problems.

I\'m buying Guitar Hero 2 a week before PS3 comes out. I think I\'ll be tied up in that for a while. I\'m gonna let launch go and wait while supply goes up.

Got mine pre-ordered. No I\'m not ebaying it (though that will be very difficult to avoid the week after launch) and I was 7th in line to get one for the 16 allocated.

Do you know if you got the core or the premium? Or is taht all randomly decided? If that\'s the case, I wouldn\'t have even bothered trying to preorder. The launch games will still be around whenever I decide to get it. I can just make a list and buy them. I just hope to have it when MGS4 comes out.

They asked at the counter which you wanted and the sku\'s are different for each - premium ftw.

Good luck. Do we really believe every EB/Gamestop/Software Etc. is getting 16 apiece? Or will it more likely be somewhere around 8 or so?

Each store was told their allocation in advance. Some got 16, others 8, none had less than 6. My store was a 16. Even then, the allocations are conservative estimates as they\'ll surely have more than they pre-ordered. The whole point for being conservative was because of last year and the 360 fiasco. They under sell their quantity to avoid the same mobs and unsatisfied pre orders from last year. It\'s just a smart play on the sellers part. The massive bulk will still be in best buys and whatnot.

I\'m not pre-ordering simply coz of a lot of the pre-orders for the 360 were unfulfilled last fall.
