Friday morning. My local EB said they may not be able to allocate more than 12.
I\'m only telling you guys because I know 99% of you don\'t live within a state of my EB. Don\'t get the wrong idea.

???

Wii. Pre-orders for the console itself. Friday.
-
thought they did it the other day with ps3.
not that i noticed :)
-
:)
Yep, Tuesday. They sold out.
-
I\'m not going out of my way to get either console... if I get one I get one, if not, oh well. 360 has been out roughly a year and I still haven\'t gotten around to getting one. It may just be me, but ever since I built my computer I kind of see consoles as inferior.
-
I\'m gonna leave work and try to be at the mall tomorrow at 9:30. If there\'s a small line, I\'ll stick around and preorder Wii at 10.
If not, I\'ll just get it at Walmart in Nov.

I was/am the same way. a Ps2 could never even compare to a pc so at least were getting to the point where the two are very similar (consoles and PC\'s). But, i need a better video card right now for my computer to out-perform a 360 or ps3. And $400 360>>>buying a $300 video card thatll be outdated in a couple years. The 360 will be outdated the same way, but 360 games will look better in the future, and theyll always looks good. Good looking games in the future of PC games will look like crap on older video cards.
I MIGHT upgrade when crysis and operation flashpoint 2 come out. But not before.
Anyway..its the wii..im not going to get it.
-
Consoles aren\'t getting similar to pcs. They simply come out with current hardware, then a few years pass and the current pc hardware overlaps consoles. Thats how its always happened.
-
u can get on google and shit on the ps3..i think its useless..but having a browser is pretty PC.
im just saying that, F.E.A.R. on PC and the 360 look generally the same (360 a little worse since its a direct port..but it could look as good if not better on 360). But if i dont upgrade my computer, a future PC game is going to look like shit, even though its designed to look great if u have the newer hardware, while a 360 is always going to look very good. Obviously, if u have the money then you upgrade your PC and get even better looking games.
While a PS2 never looked as good as a PC.
-
Viper\'s logic mirrors my own. I\'m a hardcore PC guy that realized that a large number of my most anticipated PC titles would be coming for X360.
And, most importantly, the 360 could handle them better than my PC.
-
my anticipated xbox 360 games will be ported to PC.
better invesment if ask me
-
While a PS2 never looked as good as a PC.
....on NTSC....
PAL60 PS2 games via RGB Scart cable looks great though.
Anyway, it\'s not really about merely the hardware ; it \'s about the hardware + developer support. If you want to have sureshot succes for 1 sum amount of money, a console like the XB360 is the way to go.
-
I really like what the X360 brings to the table.
mm: I totally agree. Too bad I don\'t have the $~1000~ to spend. It\'s $400 for a full upgrade (X360) versus a lot more for the PC variant.
If they release a mouse/keyboard for the Xbox 360 (it has USB, so they might already work...) then I\'ll be totally set. As of now, I can\'t wait to play Bioshock with the gamepad.
Oh, and I just got my pre-order for the Wii + an extra Wii-mote and the Nunchuck. They allocated a good 25-30 to my local EB and I was no.13 in line.
So it\'s gonna be a Wii60 Christmas, just as the good lord intended!
-
Got my pre-order in at EB Games about a half hour ago. I was #16 in a line of about 30. And there were others lined up at Best Buy and probably at Software Etc.
I ordered a Wii, 3 remotes and one more nunchuk.
I put $5 down on Zelda, Excitetruck, Rayman, Trauma Center and Red Steel.
The way it works now is first-come, first-serve on Nov. 19, but only among the 30 or so of us that have a pre-order.
So if they get 10 systems, the first ten of us to show up get one. If they get 50, we all get one. And the manager wouldn\'t tell us how many they expected to receive, so hopefully it\'s close to the number of pre-orders.
Either way, I will probably be down there an hour or two before midnight to pick it up. There were a mix of nerds and parents. ;)
-
I don\'t know. I think that after the X360 debacle, the 30 they allocated for pre-order are the 30 they will get.
That said, I was no.13 but I\'ll try to be at the door a good hour or two early to make sure. This is where the DS Lite comes in handy.
-
My plans exactly. What games did you order, any?
I\'m thinking of picking it up at midnight and if I can\'t get something I want, like a game or a classic controller, I\'m thinking of swinging by the local WalMart and getting into that line on the way home, heh.
-
I pre-ordered Zelda and Super Monkey Ball about a month back at the same EB.
It\'s possible that I\'ll grab another game or two, but for now 3 (including Wii Sports) is probably enough. I\'ve been considering Red Steel, Rayman, Trauma Center, WarioWare, Excitetruck, or Sonic as that wild-card 3rd game. We\'ll see how it goes.
Gears of War comes out the 12th and there are several DS games I want, so there\'s no need to overdo the Wii stuff.
-
The console price, other games coming out especially if you are getting a PS3 or own or are getting a 360, and other console purchases just makes this holiday seriously hurt the wallet. I\'m trying to get my PS3 and all the games paid for by the end of this month which seems to be a lock at this point. I\'ve already got Resistance and RR7 paid off and - obviously - 100 on the PS3. Working on the final couple hundred bucks by months end. Then come November I\'ll be pretty clear to pick up Rainbow 6 Vegas (X360), Gears of War(X360), Yoshi\'s Island 2 (DS), Metal Slug Anthology (PSP), and maybe Lumines 2 and maybe Marvel Ultimate Alliance if I can afford either after all that. It\'s just insane. It\'s too bad I have to skip the Wii as I want Zelda right away, but I think I\'ll be pretty busy with everything else regardless until December 12th. :)
-
I hear ya, besides my huge Wii purchase, I want Okami for PS2 and Smackdown vs Raw 07 for Xbox 360.
Blade, I think Sonic got delayed (which is good news, that game has potential but needs some work).
-
I thought so too, actually. It was listed by EB as a November game, but we\'ll see. Probably January.
-
i pray they fix the camera angle on sonic
-
They need to get Sonic back to what he does best - speed speed speed. When you\'re doing mach 3 and then come to a dead stop to move blocks... It\'s just no longer Sonic for me.
-
Exactly! Thats exactly what annoyied me as well with the newest 3D sonics. God how much I hated Sonic Heroes. It didnt offer almost at all any enjoyment of speed.
-
I agree. Sonic and the Secret Rings looked to do just that, but then you saw parts where the action slowed to a crawl.
So I hope they get it this time.
And it\'ll have boss battles, but I hope these take place at high speeds and rely mostly on reaction times.
If that\'s what this game turns into, I\'ll pick it up.

watch at least 19 seconds...
-
I guess people dig the characters, but that game looks really generic to me.
-
It does. That\'s one reason why I never really tried any of the Gauntlet-style X-Men titles.
Despite mucho kudos from people like the guys at Penny-Arcade. It just looks bland.
-
My problem with commercials like that is that that is NOT what my group of friends ever looks like. Lots of clapping, back patting after every \'move\'. Token minorities sprinkled into the group. One guy playing at a time?
No.... if they want to make an accurate commercial for me, it needs more swearing, more cheating (rip out the other guys cord, knock him off the couch type fun), and possibly some beer.
-
And more fat, greasy nerds.
-
i dont know why im looking forward to the marvel title. I tried the PC demo of the x-men one and i hated it. Was too RPG-ish. But this one seems a little more actiony and there arent those stupid circles underneath the players.. Just seems they changed it in the right places.
Plus me and 3 friends, or online sounds fun.
-
The Wii version won\'t be online. Not out of the box anyway. None of the launch titles are.
-
that kind of sucks..Is there an ethernet plug in the wii or do you have to buy an addon?
I take back what i said about the x-men games. Decided to re-download the demo (of the second game) to help me decide getting marvel and i loved it. Not sure what changed..maybe i was dumb back then and i couldnt really figure out the buttons, lol.
The only thing i wish marvel had was nightcrawler and gambit...get rid of nick fury, luke cage (never even heard of that guy), invisible woman, storm, and/or iceman
-
Wii is WiFi only. If you need to use ethernet, you\'ll need a USB adapter.
-
Wifi only is good - an option only available to the PS3 via the supreme mega expensive pack or I\'m sure through an add-on for the limited version and via a very expensive add-on for the 360. So, if you don\'t have a wireless router now, it\'s time to invest for the 3 or 4 Nintendo titles that actually support online play.
As for online for Marvel Ultimate Alliance, is it reported that you can play 4 players online for all the other versions? That\'s pretty awesome if true and might be worth picking up if that\'s the case, but I haven\'t read up on it enough apparently. Oh how I miss the classic beat em ups like X-Men and the Avengers...
-
No online launch games for Wii. None scheduled until 07.
Probably still working out the network.
But I love WiFi for its ease of setup. I had the Xbox via wireless router and game adapter. And unplugged it and moved it into the 360.
But I wouldn\'t screw with the wires every time I wanted to go between it and PS3. WiFi is a must for me. DS is so simple because of it.
Troubleshooting is much easier and needed much less often, too.
